19 Days To Purdue Football: Caleb TerBush
I have a lot of respect for kids like Caleb TerBush. Last year, when it was announced that he would be an academic casualty for the season, I wrote him off. I doubted he would return. much like fumble magnet-safety Brandon Irwin. Gladly, I was wrong. Not only did TerBush return, he is in line to finally see the field in a regular capacity.
Caleb TerBush - Jr. (RS)
Hometown: Metamora, IL (Metamora Township HS)
Quarterback
6'5", 222 pounds
2011 Projection: Second String Quarterback
By all accounts TerBush is the best throwing quarterback on the roster at the moment. The unfortunate slow progress of Robert Marve and his return from injury has given TerBush more time with the top offense, thus likely moving him into the #2 quarterback role. Coach Hope even said recently that Marve is not ready to play in a game at the moment.
This goes back to the debate of playing two quarterbacks. We've been down this road before. Coach Hope said he was going to play TerBush for a series or two back in 2009, but Joey Elliott took every snap except for a few at the end of the blowout at Wisconsin. That is when TerBush saw his only career action, completing four of 10 passes for 22 yards.
I do think we see him more this year. Rob Henry seems to be cementing the #1 quarterback slot, but as a running QB injury is always a concern. In other news, he helped build houses on a Missions trip to South Africa in March 2010. In high school he was a perfect 14-0 as a senior and won the Illinois class 5A state championship.

As long as we are a team that regularly completes passing plays of 30+ yards
I don’t care WHO is throwing the ball.
Results.
To your call once more we rally....
Well, it's circular
…coz if it’s guys like me throwing the ball, you can pretty much forget anything longer than 15, urrr, maybe 5 yards. Given that 30+ yards play will likely be far and few this season, unfortunately you probably have to care who is throwing the ball. I just hope our running game is good enough to mask our weakness in the passing game, and that Henry can convert enough 3rd down to extend the drive.

I never saw Caleb play at MTHS (I graduated in ’99 from there); however I heard a lot about him. Also MTHS has always been a power-run school (evidently they had a throwing attack a few years because of Caleb).
He might be better at throwing than the other 2 QB’s, but he can still run and play the option. Skip ahead to 2:20ish http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2vi9DmLvtk
