I will not underestimate the size of cornerbacks. People continue to do that with Ricardo Allen and I think he has the ability to be a Defensive Player of the Year type of player. Therefore, when I see a 5'7" cornerback I see potential.
Sean Collins - So. (RS)
Hometown: Indianapolis, IN (Cathedral HS)
Cornerback
5'7", 172 pounds
2011 Projection: Reserve at Cornerback
I know that a player like Sean Collins likely won't get a lot of playing time. He is a walk-on buried deep on the bench, but so was Frank Duong and Logan Link once upon a time. Collins comes from a winning program, winning two state championships with Cathedral in high school. he also added a baseball state championship in 2007, when he happened to beat my Kokomo Wildkats.
Collins clearly has his eyes on his post-collegiate career as well. He is a professional flight technology major and a member of the ROTC. He may never play a down at Purdue, but in 25 years or so I could be writing a Profile in Badassery about him because of some feat of daring he accomplished. It looks like the seeds for that are firmly planted.
