Mark Herrmann CFHoF enshrinement
If you're in the South Bend area (and if you are, you have my sympathy), then you may already know that this Saturday is Enshrinement weekend at the College Football Hall of Fame. This year's class is headlined by our own icon, Mark Herrmann, and some guy called Desmond Howard. So back to Mark, it looks like you can reserve tickets for the the Purdue Alumni's "Mark Herrmann Zone" for the Grand Parade.
On May 27, the NFF announced that Hermann, who played quarterback at Purdue from 1977-80 and earned unanimous All-America honors in 1980, will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a member of the 2010 class. Throughout the season, each Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) College Football Hall of Fame inductee returns to his school for the special on-field event, where a commemorative plaque is presented to the university for permanent display. Beginning with the NFF’s inaugural Hall of Fame class in 1951, the On-Campus Salute has served as the first of numerous highlights in the hall of fame experience, giving each inductee one more chance to take the field.
Purdue University and The National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame announced today that they will jointly honor Mark Herrmann with an NFF Hall of Fame On-Campus Salute Nov. 6 as the Boilermakers host Wisconsin in West Lafayette.
Might just be the highlight of that game......
So get out there and show your support.... in a couple years, you'll have to go to Atlanta to do this sort of thing.

Wisconsin Game
Looks like he is a safe bet to lead SHOUT that day.
I still can’t believe we haven’t gotten Drew back since he was named Super Bowl MVP

I think shout is such a poor attempt at copying Wisconsin
We could have done better. It’s not nearly rowdy enough.
Nice guy, even better athlete
I had a chance to meet Mark Herrman last fall when he was introduced into the NFF, ironically against Wisconsin(remember the second half implosion?). He was very courteous, kind, and humble. Funny, too! I knew how great he was on the field, but surprised how cool he is off the field. It also helped he signed a football for me, too! Congrats Mark Herrman!

Mark vs Joe Montana
It was 1977 and my Dad & I were at the game. Ross-Ade was packed and the Boilers jumped out to a 24-14 lead early, behind the passing of Herrmann. But then, as has been the case numerous times in his storied career, Joe Montana leads his team back from a deficit to steal the victory, 31-24. Montana just kept going to his big TE ( I think it was Ross Browner (but can’t recall precisely) gashing our D for huge gains.
I was a freshman in high school at the time and it was my first of many times going to watch Mark during his incredible run in West Lafayette. Ironically, it wasn’t until 2004 – after a Colts game – that I finally got his autograph. I was actually waiting with my friends to snag one of the Colts players, and here comes Mark out of the RCA Dome and down the walkway. I said, “Hey Mark – can I get your autograph?” At first he thought I was joking and then I told him, " I could never get it while you were playing at Purdue, so I better get it while I finally have the chance!" He had a good laugh and I told him “It was a great time watching you during your time at Purdue” He appreciated it and said "Thanks – those were great times, wish we could’ve capped it off with a Rose Bowl. "
Good guy, great QB for the Boilers.

Montana was 3rd on the depth chart entering that game
He got his shot only after we broke their first two QBs. He started every game after and ND won a National Championship that fall.
