B1G Social Network - The fine folks of Wisconsin

PrintNext up in the Social Network is the Wisconsin Badgers. Wisconsin is also in the Leaders division with us, and thus our rivalry with them is in tact, whew. The Badgers are known for a tough football program and a low scoring defensive basketball team (it is actually better than it was, those games used to be unwatchable, now they are only somewhat unwatchable). So, what are our thoughts on Wisconsin?
My initial thoughts all bring back bad memories. Our basketball team making to the elite eight, only to fall to Wisconsin for the second time that year. We had just beaten Gonzaga, and I thought we had a chance to make it to Keady's first final four. And do I need to mention "the fumble"? Well, I hope I didn't change your opinion of the Badgers, that is just what came to mind.

We were the first band to even invite them in years, given the trash they've been involved in.
We also invited them to join in our postgame concert. They kept playing after we were ready and in fact started to leave. They weren’t performing either, they were dancing around and showing off and shit. As we were marchin out, they felt compelled to line up and blast directly at us. They had several hundred fans on the field throwing a fucking party on our field. We had to have our police escort clear us a path to leave. It was the single most disrespectful thing I have ever seen in sports. And this is an official representative of their university.
That’s the restrained version of the story. Put it this way, there was a real threat of Purdue going to 1-0 in Big Ten band fights.

You say that Wisconsin basketball is better than it used to be....
but don’t forget about the Penn State-Wisconsin game from the B1G tourney this year. I was sitting down real low for that particular game, somewhere in the first 10 rows I think, and I can honestly say I have never been so absolutely bored during a basketball game as I was while watching that one. It is second only to the Purdue-Minnesota game from 2010 (4th row, center court) on my “best seats for the worst game” list.
Ultimately, I was torn between a +6 and a -3 on this poll, and ended up settling on +6 for my vote. Mostly because I had a fun time talking with their Dairy Club members that came to Ross-Ade Stadium last year and entertained those of us standing on the sidelines from their front-row seats. They were a class act group of students. And utterly hilarious.

Wisconsin Fans
I went to the wonderful Purdue vs Wisconsin game 2 years ago when we forgot to get off the team bus and i think piled up 44 total yard the whole game and we lost 41-0. After the game we went back to our car and there were a group of Wisconsin students throwing eggs at Purdue fans parked cars, ours truck was next in line but they saw us coming and stopped. We talked with them, drank there booze and stole a handle of vodka to drink the rest of the night.
I was with an IU fan and even he was pissed they would do that…
On a side note, locked my car keys in my car talked to a police officer and told him I locked my keys in my car and a locksmith was on the way, went inside because it was cold and came back out 5 mins later when the locksmith got there and watched that same officer writing me a parking ticket because it was only 2 hour parking…
Third eye blind played that night so that made the trip worthwhile though.
