Purdue offers 2012 Big Man AJ Hammons

PrintA day after the Boilers signed Ronnie Johnson (and are overbooked a scholly), they offered 2012 4 star, super 60 big man AJ Hammons. He has also been offered by Texas and OSU which probably means he won't like that we are recruiting him cleanly and we don't stand a chance with him. It could help that OSU is bringing in McDonald's All-American Amir WIlliams in 2011. I know Purdue has been recruiting Hammons for a while and have also heard a few knocks on him taking plays off and such. Bottom line, the kid is 6'10, 280...you can teach skills and hard-work but you can't teach size like that. Where there is smoke there is fire, is there any smoke with this kid? Would he fit in with what Painter is trying to do? Assuming the 2012 class doesn't decommit any, we could have 5 very dangerous seniors backed up by 4 just as dangerous juniors for the 2015 Final 4 in Indianapolis.

I’ve never followed recruiting before, so I’m quite interested to see how all of this plays out – total confidence in Matty. Definitely has me excited for the future.

when it comes to this recruiting stuff – if it ain’t already out there on scouts/rivals/espn, then you aren’t going to find it here. None of these guys (including myself) have any inside information from the inner workings of Purdue what-so-ever. The connections at Twin City Dodge – though I love their commercials – are false. PURDUE7 doesn’t know anyone on the team.
All that said – other than what’s in the headline, we don’t know anything more about the situation. You can BOOK IT.

not sure if they’ll make him a good offer on his trade in…. everyone knows Raisor’s is over their monthly quota on discounts.

IU message board has some rumors going on this. Obviously whenever you read something on a board like this, the proper thing to do is to assume it’s false. However if it’s true, it would explain everything about Painter’s and Crean’s actions.
