All quiet on BOILER front......
I heard that everyone is coming back. Talked to a PURDUE player and he said he doesn't know of anyone who is leaving. Bade is out of the DOG HOUSE and Hummel looks great. I guess nothing happens until 2012 when the hammer falls. Maybe the player(s) is keeping it a secret or maybe MP is gonna have a meeting and lay it out?
Seems like MP is full speed ahead on recruiting........another top 50 player would be a good problem to have!

Good to hear!
I want a full roster including Bade, Barlow and Hart for 2011-2012. I still haven’t jumped ship on Bade. I’m hoping he can get more than garbage minutes this year and relieve some of the stress on Hummel, Carrol, Hale and Lawson. He has to at least have some knowledge of the system by now especially with Hummel being a coach last year. We also NEED Barlow to get his attitude fixed but if he does that he could get 10 pts a game and I don’t think its to hard to believe 5 or 6 boards a game either. Hart just has the ability to catch fire from 3 and with smith being so inconsistent at times and AJ just starting it will be interesting to see how many minutes he gets. All of these guys are major cogs in the engine that is Purdue basketball. They may not be the main pieces but MP usually goes 10 deep at times and it helps to have veterans.
If you were transferring, who would you tell?
Typically when a transfer happens the players don’t know. They find out right when the news breaks. Why would a player say, “hey guys, I a going to quit on this team and go play somewhere else where I can be the star!”. Because of this, teammates wouldn’t know.
MP would know because most likely he the “end of year meeting” with the player to talk about the future of that player with the program. He would have spoken to the head coach at another school giving the player positive comments.
In other cases the player tells know one and the coach is surprised as well. But, with MP over-signing and still offering, what does that look like to you? He is a SMART man and the Missouri sage shows us that! Me thinks he knows something about the situation that warrants the extra scholarships.

I think it is more a case of planning ahead
I think there is a possibility of someone not qualifying (like Jeff Robinson) rather than someone transferring. It will all work out int he end and we’ll be fine.
A futile crusade to prevent mass ignorance
HammerAndRails, SBNation's Boilermaker Blog
Yes, I think in the end it'll work out fine
Hart gives us the flexibility since in theory he can graduate next May and by then we would have indeed provided him a 4-year scholarship. It’s only if Hammons / Harris / Foster commits that I have to wonder where’s the scholarship gonna come from…
For the umpteenth time.
Gaining Hart’s scholly for 2012 only helps that year. We are still oversigned by 1 going into 2013. Something else will have to happen. IMO, that opening will come from a change in status with either Sandi or Mollock.

Quiet but frustrated?
I guess some people can keep secrets from people they are around every day…….most can’t.
Tell me you have never left practice in HS…..driven home with a teammate…….and vented frustration.
I also think body language and attitude would be obvious.
Everyone is different
No way of knowing what a kid is thinking. I do think that Hart graduates next year and only stays if he walks on for a 5th year. That solves the overcommit issue that charlespig speaks of.
The 2008 and 2009 classes did not produce much outside of Jackson. Mainly roll players. Dare I say benchwarmers for some ;) For the 2010 class, we’ll know more next year. On paper 2012-2013 looks very promising. Either way, recruits are on the way up.

Hypothetical Scenario
IMO, and I stress, IMO….Hart graduates in May (I hear he is a good student) and transfers to another school to pursue a graduate degree. Basketball is probably not in his future so why not get a head start on a graduate degree at someone else’s expense. That solves the scholarship issue for 2012. We are still over signed for 2013 so I think that either Mollock or Simpson, maybe both, don’t make it to campus in 2012. I’ve heard Simpson may not qualify academically and I wonder if Mollock goes the prep school route or looks elsewhere since we now have 2 other PG’s coming in. Either way, Coach Painter is not forcing anyone out or pulling any scholarships, thus preserving his reputation. I don’t think Coach Painter would be heavily recruiting players the way he is if he didn’t already know something. I think he knows that someone in the 2012 class isn’t making it on campus and that is why he is still recruiting.
What?
I get that its your opinion, but think for a minute. We WANT Jay Simpson on campus. Even if he has any grade issues, he’s only a junior. That gives another year for him to get his shit together.

Agree...
we do want Jay Simpson on campus but I also want a million dollars but sometimes its just not in the cards. I wasn’t trying to say that I didn’t want Jay Simpson or Kyle Mollock to play at Purdue. I was just trying to think of possible scenarios in which the scholarship situation is resolved without anyone losing their scholarship. I realize the young man has a year to improve his grades but it might not be just his grades (SAT / ACT??). If these is any truth to the rumor I hope he gets his shit together because I think the kid could be a huge piece of the puzzle.
I understand you aren't trying to get rid of Simpson/Molock ...
but why use him in particular as an example for poor grades? (I’m just curious … is that just pure random example, or do you hear something about his grades?)
If we aren’t getting Simpson in 2012, then we are gonna be playing REAL small ball.
Heard a rumor...
but obviously it is just that, a rumor. But that is why I used him as an example. Who knows if it is true or not but someone on a Purdue message board claims to live in Champaigne and have knowledge of his situation. He obvioulsy has time to improve his academic standing but who knows how bad it is, assuming there is a problem. Again, who really knows, I was just using it as a hypothetical scenario.
Thx!!
Glad to see someone who doesn’t use “Book it” or “Inside source” but emphasizes it is just a rumor at best and really who knows. In any case, I just hope we can get a big man somehow to address our rebounding problem. If Simpson can’t join us for whatever reason then hopefully Hammons or Foster will.
LOL
Someone who apparently “lives in the area” and has “knowledge of the situation….

I did it wrong.
How do you post .gif files?
by Jackson Brunner on May 17, 2011 5:24 PM EDT up reply actions
Hence why...
I said “hypothetical” and “IMO” and “heard a rumor.” I never once claimed it was based on fact.
and if the speculation about a bump in scholly count is true....
…. then this whole discussion changes.

Look at Momo Jones
Maybe you could say you saw it coming from the fact that he committed and then de-committed 3 times before ending up at AZ. But now he’s off again. Who really saw that coming?
PB1995 has it right tho – telling teammates that you’re transferring is like telling your co-workers that you’re taking another job. You wouldn’t do it until things were pretty much a done deal (and not a ‘Bernie: done deal’). Even if someone were wise to it, they wouldn’t rat you out or even hint about it.

HART GPA
He had the best GPA on the team………according to sources!
I will be excited to see how Mollock does in AAU this summer.
Have heard the rumors about Simpson and grades………
It's not his grades
Credit score…. was turned down for a loan at Twin City Dodge
Brother in law was having oil changed and heard the whole thing go down
May be bumming a ride off of Bade at this point………

LOL!
First, you don’t use the magic phrase “Book it” like Purdue7
Second, you actually explicit list your source instead of using some obscure “I have inside news”
Sorry, but you just violate the basic rules in “How to spread non-sense rumors.” Need to retake your lesson…
was trying to make it obvious
I stuck to 3 short lines!
Overused …………and claimed to know just enough to make it unbelievable.
Incomplete sentences used, but not including “BOOK IT” may have been a mistake.

Waiting for any of you to post anything new
I hear rumors and facts…….post them both.
You can post about Twin City…….I was told he turned his car in. Maybe he does every spring? It seemed like a piece to the puzzle that was being reported all over.
Please put me on ignore…..since I don’t know anything….now that Brandon Wood has picked Sparty…..
Thx for your posts
I do, and I mean it, and I look forward to more of them. I actually even say I agree with quite a few of them, book it ;-)
But you see, once you “Bernie”, you are always a “Bernie.” Bernie Miklasz can call the next 10 coaching searches correct but for all I know, he’s a “Bernie” (a.k.a. some jacka$$ who blatantly misleads by reporting rumors as solid facts). That’s the price for jumping the gun and making pre-emptive calls. He could have been the hero. Had he been right, he’ll be worshipped like a god. That’s what happen to Wall Street analysts who make correct calls on the market.
And don’t forget, if one makes enough calls, eventually some will turn out right, just by mere chance. Bernie can keep jumping the gun, and maybe once or twice he’ll get lucky. So sorry, even with Woods you’re still “Bernie”, but we still love you :-)
The bottom line, I think, is that reporting relevant rumors is fine and welcomed, like BoilersFan, but at least indicate as such (with “hypothetical”, “IMHO”, “rumors”, etc) instead of as facts (ie. “Book it”, “Done deal”). We’ve been “bernied”, costing us several days of heart attacks, and I hope you can understand why it stings with us.
LOL
If I am a “BERNIE” you are all little clones?
I think its sad that none fo you have even once decent connection……or insider.
I know a few that love to chat it up…..one coached a current PURDUE player and talks with him frequently……..another is a former team manager from the BIG DOG DAYS…….
I report what they tell me……..but in the future I will keep it to myself………..I would hate to upset any of you little girls.
Thx for giving an excellent demonstration
…of a whiner.
Whiners can only take the glory, but not the blame. They can only be the hero, but not the goat. And they end up worse than a goat, forever.
I remember at the beginning of his career, Kobe had 4 potential game-winning shots in the playoffs against the Jazz, and he missed them all – some were even embarrassing air balls. Even though he didn’t say “Book it” or “Done deal” when he shot, he was undoubtedly the goat, and a lot of people were upset and ridiculed him.
Did he whine and say, “I’d hate to upset you little clones/girls! In the future I am just going to keep these late-game shots to myself and never shoot again!” ?
No, he went out and kept shooting. Sometimes he’s a hero; sometimes he’s a goat, but it turns out that he becomes recognized as the best clutch shooter of his generation and earn everyone’s respect and praise. That’s what winners do.
Merely claiming how many inside sources you have is meaningless until you back it up with successful predictions after successful predictions. The way to silent your critics is to prove them wrong, OVER and OVER again. That’s the winners’ way of saying f*ck you, and then take and MAKE gw-shots OVER and OVER again. You’ve just demonstrated the whiners’ way: never to take another shot b/c the last one you were so confident in, missed. Book it!
BOOK IT
Thanks for comparing me with Kobe…….but I have a college degree and have never been charged with sexual assault.
All I tried to do during a the craziest day in PURDUE was call around……..search the internet and make sense of the situation.
