New Scout 2013 rankings...
Scout just released their revised rankings for the top 50 players of 2013 and a few future Boilermakers have made the list, while there are also a few conspicuous absences. Only 5 of the 50 players are currently committed, two of which, Bryson Scott (#42) and Kendall Stephens (#48), are committed to the Boilers. I know it's early and you can never truly know how a player will turn out, but I think it's safe to say that the 2013 class is going to be awesome.
On the flip side, Devin Davis and Collin Hartman are both absent from the list, making it even better for us Purdue fans. Boiler up!

Funny
Every great once in awhile I mosey on over to insidethehall.com to see what our IU friends have to say. There happens to be an article on it today about the rankings and the lack of an IU presence (Hartman and Davis). I find it funny that IU fans say they don’t care about rankings for the 2013 class but they’ll be the first to point out the rankings of their recruits in 2012 and 2014. I just found it ammusing.
I am off the belief that rankings don’t mean a whole lot, they are nice to see, but they don’t necessarily translate to success on the court. I’m sure they help with recruiting as I’ve got to believe recruits visit these sites as much as anyone and I’d have to belief top players want to play with each other. About the only high school rankings I give much credence to is McDonald’s All-Americans. I read today that 9 of the 15 all NBA team members were McD’s AA. Thats pretty good.
anyone know?
where it lists schools of interest…. where does that come from? Are those the schools that the player is interested in, or school that have expressed interest in that player….? I see Purdue on 5 other player’s schools of interest, including the #1, Jabari Parker.
interestingly enough, did a Ctl + F for Indiana…… no results.

Speaking of Jabari Parker...
I don’t know him other than I’ve read that he is a really good player. Now here’s my question. As a fan, how much do you want the #1-rated guy (who is almost guaranteed to be a one-and-done) to your team? Would you be happier to have him or a twenty-or-thirty-something ranked guy who is good but not great (i.e. highly unlikely to be a one-and-done)?
Swing for the fences, I say...
I know one-and-done isn’t the way that Purdue basketball has done things in the past, but if we’re talking about someone talented enough to be the #1 player in the class, I think if you have a shot you have to take it. A player of that caliber can come in and immediately put you in title contention.

Lets see it on the court
I want to see how the loosier class of 12 and 14 do compared to our 12,13 and 14 class. Competition should be fierce, I want to see this rivalry back to what it was so it makes it that much sweeter to be sitting in paint crew the next 3 years chanting IU SUCKS as Purdue is dropping buckets on them!
It'll be really exciting to see.
I agree, and I have this gut feeling that unless IU fires Clappy that Purdue will still be better.

Crean can't coach
All he can do is recruit. D-wade led him to the final four and never got back to the level of play after he graduated and i don’t see any of the future recruits being the next D-wade
interests
i have to doubt the interested column since severals of those recruits say interested in purdue yet have heard very little of them taking visits or we r interested in them

Matt Painter casts a wide net on lots of recruits early on...
There are a variety of ways the ‘interested’ schools get added, none of which need to be confirmed with the school itself. Many times it’s the kid self reporting to Scout/Rivals reps that have access to add/subtract information.
But they are usually accurate when they are entered but things quickly change. There was some (and I say SOME) mutual interest early on JP’s recruitment, but as he exploded Painter opted to invest his time elsewhere. It’s never a huge priority to go in and change his profile, although it would eliminate situations where it gets peoples’ hopes up.

Derek Willis killin it
Sounds like he is going to shoot up the rankings after this weekend’s AAU tournament in Bloomington. Also, he is probably the best recruit that we have coming.
AAU Update from IndyStar
Nice
I think Willis will be a really nice player once he adds some weight. I haven’t seen any video of him but from what I’ve read he has a nice skill set for a big man. Did you see the stats for Ronnie Johnson….19 pts and 14 assists! I know it is AAU and defense is optional but 14 assists is pretty impressive none the less. Young man could be the steal of the 2012 recruiting class. Anyone know who Rapheal Davis is playing with this summer? Is he still hurt?
