Danny Hope and the Boilermakers finished spring practice on April 9th with the Gold and Black Game as everyone knows....and I'm happy with what I saw from this team in terms of developed talent and athleticism. Whether or not we can win games, however, is a much more important question.
Hope was quoted as saying that Rob Henry is developing very well as an offensive weapon and as a quarterback. But he also said something that really bothers me in that "we're not going to leave talent on the sidelines". He's referring to the quarterback situation and how he wants to have Marve, Henry, and TerBush play in games. I think most of you will agree with me in that I hate that idea. The best way to win is to take a better investment in a young player like Rob Henry that is a proven leader/athlete and keep him out on the field to help him get better. I've come to the conclusion that Marve is NOT the answer...and TerBush screwed himself over by being an idiot in the classroom. He was also very unimpressive in the spring game.
The way Hope gameplans bothers me sometimes...but I'll stick with my guns and say that we need to wait until after the 2011 season before we decide his fate. The talent is here....its bowl game or bust.
