Potential Recruit

Not sure if TMill or any of the other H&R guys at the Spring Game noticed, but there was a tall, lanky young kid hanging around the field after the game, talking with some Purdue folks and some of the players. I looked at him a couple of times to figure out he was still in high school because of the ID tag he had around his neck.

The ID tag said he was Max Staver from Brentwood, Tennessee. Now I had never heard of him until then ( that's not such a shock ), but I couldn't believe that a kid from Tennessee was up here watching the Purdue Spring Game and NOT down in.......you know......Knoxville or other parts of the Volunteer state, looking for Peyton or Eli Manning! :)

So I grabbed a pen from a young kid standing nearby who was between autographs and wrote down Staver's name so I wouldn't forget to find out more about him. Later on I punched his name into the ole computer search engines and it gave me a few interesting links. The kid has built a pretty solid reputation as a hard worker and gifted QB who is young and has solid fundamentals. He was originally at Pope John Paul high school but moved over to Brentwood Academy (in Tennessee) and will play there for the upcoming season, which will be his sophomore year.

Interesting that at this early age (and after having gone to a couple of QB camps down south - one in Atlanta ) that the young man decided to make a trip up here to Purdue. If he didn't have such a crowd around him I would have liked to have asked him what prompted him to make a trip to Purdue......I'm guessing it's an "unofficial" visit at this point, but interesting nonetheless. a T6-5, 195 and with many saying he has uncanny ability to view the field and quickly release the ball with solid accuracy, I'd say this courtship is worth keeping an eye on.

Couple of links for those interested in some of what's available to date. if anyone finds anything more, please add on.
