I feel compelled to write this. Can we pls restore some sanity to CMP's situation? Don't pay hefty interest on loans that you may not even be yours - which is what all these needless worry is about!
I think we can all agree that the biggest attraction for Painter to Missouri is $. Everything else Purdue beat them hands down.
The fact that Painter has been silent and the seeming fact that he might meet with Mizzou only indicates that he is at least considering and not rejecting the possibility outright. That is the same path that JJ went last year, and I think that's the right choice for every man to at least investigate the option that is presented to him. At the end of the day, I have faith that Painter will make the best and right decision for himself, Purdue, the players, and the fans.
So no need to cry for someone's head or resignation before anything (that is beyond our control anyway) becomes official. Can we just at least support our coach to make a very important decision for himself?
The attack on Painter's "lack of success in NCAA Tournament" or "losing top recruits" so "if he wanna go so be it" is not supportive and doesn't reflect us as Boilers. If we demand loyalty for CMP to Purdue, shouldn't we at least first show our loyalty to CMP? I hope people can be more appreciative for what Painter has done to the Purdue program, considering what horrible state we were in before he rejoined.
And at the end of the day, if Painter does decide that he chooses $ over building his alma mater program that he was a part of (which I don't think so at all but just for argument sake), then it just says his heart is not with Purdue anyway. If that is the case, then just like what we say to those recruits who don't want to play the Purdue-style basketball, he isn't a fit anyway and it's in the best interest that we part ways.
But for now, until proven otherwise, pls support our coach and be appreciative for his work. A man is innocent until proven guilty, and I think CMP deserve a lot more respect than we are giving him. The best thing to do is not to bomb our AD but to let CMP know that we are truly thankful for the work he's done, and wish him to continue building upon what he's built.
