Here's a report (http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-03-25/kentucky-wins-ncaa-basketball-championship-in-spending-to-recruit-players.html) on how much universities spend on basketball recruiting, and no surprise, the top three are Kentucky, Kansas, and Florida. Is there any wonder how they seem to always get the bluest of the blue chip players? (They also all wear blue as their team jersey, hmmm ... so as UNC and Duke ... hmmm)
And who spent the least? You got it: Wisconsin.
Note though,
1) The list only includes PUBLIC universities (e.g. Duke is not included),
2) These are money for "official visits, scouting, communications and travelling expenses." There is no hard evidence that they actually pay the recruits. (I wonder if flying a recruit in first-class cabin is allowed)
