Help the Paint Crew beat the Izzone in the Coaches vs Cancer Challenge!
Once again, the Paint Crew and Izzone are squaring off to see who can donate the most amount of money the American Cancer Society in the Coaches vs. Cancer Charity Challenge.
Us Purdue students, though currently winning by a couple dollars after the Izzone got off to an early start, need your help since some of us are still paying off books! Boiled Sports talked about it recently by asking it's readers to donate and help the Paint Crew.
In the end, life is the true winner of this challenge, and I ask the fellow H&R readers to help out. We have all been touched by cancer, recently a beloved chaperon from our youth group died after a tough battle with cancer a few days before Thanksgiving, and I'm sure you know others who are battling cancer and maybe have lost or won the battle.
Not only are you helping the Paint Crew beat the Izzone, you are helping in the battle against cancer.

The challenge ends on February 26/27 (probably 26th) before the Purdue @ MSU game. At halftime, the officers/representatives of both the Paint Crew and Izzone will be present and the winning student section will receive the Coaches vs. Cancer Charity Challenge trophy
BOILER UP! And HAMMER DOWN to beat Cancer!
Update (2/11/2011): The home page itself doesn't reload the amount of money raised, but by clicking on each team it shows their most updated totals. So far, it's:
Paint Crew: $1,970
Izzone: $1,203
Izzone's numbers haven't changed, whether it's because their students/alumni/fans took a small break from donating or the website hasn't updated (probably the latter) is beyond me.
Like I said, life is the true winner, and for those who remember grade school math, both the Izzone and Paint Crew have raised $3,173 total.

for the record,
Purdue only had something around $600 raised when BS posted their article on it, and we had a $500-$600 deficit to make up to catch up to the Izzone. Now, it’s $1203 to $1150 in favor of MSU. That’s really impressive. Kudos to those who have donated – I look forward to the days that I have money actually coming in to my budget rather than straight out the door to Purdue’s vault.
To your call once more we rally....
sorry, that was kind of an incomplete thought at the end... add:
so that I can donate moneys to a great cause like this too.

My mother is a cancer survivor, so this is very near to my heart.

Thank you!!!
Thank you to all of you who support the American Cancer Society. My father passed away from colon cancer when I was 8 years old, so this organization has a special meaning to me. I truly believe that we can find a cure for cancer if we continue to support organizations such as the ACS. You may think your money won’t make a difference but know that if it gives a child even a few extra days with a loved one than it was completely worth it.
One thing...
To donate: click on the link above, click on the Purdue logo, select Purdue Challange Donations from the Participate drop down at the top of the page, and than click Donate. You can donate as little as $5 dollars. Every little bit helps.
Good work, Boilers!
My mother had surgery to remove a mass on last Friday, and we were lucky enough to learn last night that her lab results came back looking stellar. So this week was an apt time to rattle the tin can in my presence. Glad to help out, and even more glad that I can do good with my wallet and help my alma mater’s reputation in one shot!
