Last year at this time, Purdue entered its Sweet 16 match-up against #1 Florida as a major underdog, but was able to pull off the amazing sweep. One year later, Purdue is a favorite to go to the Final Four and even win the national title. This time, it is #12 Florida State who enters this match up as the underdog looking to pull off the upset.
FSU defeeated Albany and Big East Tourney Champ Cincinnati in the 1st and 2nd rounds respectively back in Tallahassee. Though it took them 5 sets to beat Cincy (won 5th set 15-13), the win certainly boosted their confidence going into tonight's game in Minneapolis.
I expect Purdue to be challenged by a good Florida State team tonight, but I expect to pull off the victory in 4 close sets. I wouldn't be surprised if this does go to 5 sets and pushes back the #4 Iowa State/#13 Minnesota match-up that follows.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.com at 6pm EST.
