Davis-Sinpson Biggest Win Ever-Stephens-Hammons
Lalumiere upset Maxpreps #1 team Findlay Prep.Davis scored 14 while Simpson added 6.Lalu ranked #10 by Maxpreps won against the #1 rated team for the first time in school history.Findlay's coach stated Davis and Perea as the biggest problem " Davis is a smart strong player we couldn't match up with"Lalu 14-2 their only losses were when Davis was out vs Elgin and to Hammons and Oakhill Davis had the Flu and played only a few minutes ie he tried to play and couldn't go. Aj didn't start but played 20 minutes in a blow out win he scored 7 had 9 boards 3 assist and a block.I am most excited about the twenty minutes Oakhill ran their record to 24-0 and are still Ranked #1 USA Today and #2 Maxpreps. The best for last Kendall Stephens scored 30 of his teams 50 he hit 5 three pointers grabbed 7 boards and had 3 blocks St.Charles East lost however on 3 pointer with 2 seconds to go.Stephens hit two freethrows to put his team ahead by 2 but not enough.Where I see the recruits 2012 #1 Davis he will play the 3 Offensive player he is the leader of Lalu most like Etwaun moore.#2 AJ Hammons you can't teach size I Question his motor has all the skills and could be very special most like Ralph Sampson 3 If he would play hard the sky is the limit.#3 Jay Simpson has slimmed down and now is very mobil I think he is underated plays the 3 now but will play the 4 should be a good battle with Hale for robbie's minutes most like Raymar Morgan.# 4 Ronnie Johnson Painter calls him a winner I don't see him doing much for a few years nothing against him but Barlow will start with TJ as his back up most like Lewjack.2013 #1Scott the very best of all recruits in the Painter Era will start from game 1 the second he sets foot on the court he is our best defensive player will play the point.Great ball handler, passer, and Scorer most like Chris Kramer.#2 Kendall Stephens will play the 3 he and Davis are Equal and should share the minutes both will star most like IU'S Jones 3rd. #3 Basil Smotherman will play the 3 good defender smart coaches kid really needs to get to 6'7 and compete at the #4 this kid can play and he belongs but Davis and Stephens are both very special most like Marcus Green. We will be loaded these recruits are all really good but Scott is great we could use a true 4 and I still think we need Brenton.Once again I am not down on Ronnie I am just up Bryson.

It would be interesting to know how our current players performed in high school
It seems like our future guys perform really well night in and night out (except for Hammons, which is worrisome).
Did guys like TJ, AJ, and DJ put up numbers like that in high school?
Reaction images? I got 'em
Senior All-American Alto Sax
TJ, AJ and DJ all had excellent high school careers
DJ in particular, was a hell of a scorer.
High School basketball is a poor measure of a kid’s ability. How they do on the AAU circuit is more more informative, due to the much higher level of competition.

In a word Yes
The Prep School route is where it is going.Painter talked Simpson and Davis into going to Lalu however when you beat teams by fifty every night like Oakhill I’m not sure how that effects you as for our recruits now I have been following recruits closely for 20 plus years and the next 2 classes are special. On the same level as 2007 class.Hammons is the X factor if he wont play hard we don’t have a plan B other than Lawson and Simpson good players but not 5’s.Look for the Scotts to go the prep route next year also if Painter takes both they will go prep otherwise I say they will play together for their senior year at Northrop.
yeah
I was referring more to the the IHSAA schools. as oldboiler said, LaLumiere, Oak Hill, etc.. are different animals and they are really where elite hs talent is headed. No where else can you travel across the country (mimicking a cbb setting) playing other high-level talents. there are no zitty 5’11’’ small forwards at LaLu.
as far as the scott brothers are concerned, it’ll be interesting to see bryson at LaLu but I bet he stays put. with brenton, i would be shocked if we offered him. not that he doesn’t have talent, but he doesn’t fit a need and it’s my understanding that we’re not even recruiting him at this point.

DJ, TJ, AJ high school numbers (pts, reb, ast)
DJ – 25, 9, 3 (#24 SG Rivals, #30 Scout, #22 ESPN)
TJ – 19, 4, 4 (#12 PG Rivals, #13 Scout)
AJ – No info (#25 SG Rivals, #30 Scout, #57 ESPN)
To me, the funny thing is to read all the hype about the high school players coming in (DJ, TJ all have at one point been considered the next big thing for our program), and then once here, as soon as they have a couple of bad games, I will read about all the trashing (Oh, TJ has no shot, DJ shouldn’t play more than 10 mins, etc.) It’s quite ridiculous.
And that’s not just on fans. It’s funny to read about the recruits when they were in high school from the rating agency. Bade, Carroll were all considered “great get” for Painter b/c they’ll fit perfectly in the motion offense.
Bottom line, I hold a cautiously optimistic view to our recruits. High school stats, rankings, and expert scouting are notorious poor predictor of how a recruit will turn out. I won’t get overly excited about anyone until I actually see him play in a Purdue uniform. Call me the doubting Thomas but that is the scientific method that I learned from my study at Purdue engineering and that’s the only thing I trust.
I agree
I remember the Exponent saying that Painter got one of the top recruiting classes with hale, TJ and TC.
I am encouraged though with the more athletic recruits though. Lawson was ranked lower, but has great athleticism and shows a lot of potential. I think it is tougher with TC, Byrd, Sandi because they just dont have the same athleticism so the upside is much lower in my opinion.
TJ May Have Been a Point Guard
And he sure don’t look one now. Barlow hasn’t convinced me that he can lead this team at the point. RJ will play plenty next year.

DJ also played at North Mont
which probably doesnt play the best talent, he was probably the biggest guy on the floor most games. TJ still could be a great player for us, hes only played 1 and a half seasons and has been hurt, if the Iowa game is any indicator for him, he could be good. I think AJ can be special too, i like what ive seen out of him so far.
OldBoiler52, what do you
think our chances of landing Derek Willis? Seems like he could be the last peice to the puzzle.
I do very little I own a real estate company
I dont know about wills hope so I know him and Davis banter alot on twitter
