We got a 4 star recruit today - DE Ryan Watson

http://purdue.rivals.com/ It can be hard to get excited about a 4 star recruit at Purdue with the lack of success they have generally provided us but this looks like a good get. It fills a need at DE as well. This kid had a lot of good offers (Michigan, MSU, Nebraska, Penn St, Stanford, Wisc, etc.) He utlimately chose us over Pittsburgh. http://rivals.yahoo.com/purdue/football/recruiting/player-Ryan-Watson-97730 Hopefully he'll make a good combo with Ryan Russell.

I was hoping we’d get him after he said it was down to Pitt and us and Pitt fired their coach. Also since this guy is #25 for the yera does this take us out of the Deon Bush sweepstakes, I know that didn’t look great but I was holding out hope.

Looks like he will probably end up at Alabama, Auburn, or Miami. Purdue did not make the top 3 cut.

Scout.com has him as a OG and the #7 rated guard prospect in the country. I wonder if Hope wants him to play on offense because he has a history of converting defensive linemen to offensive lineman.

If that is true we could have alot of talent to work with on the offensive line for next year and the next several years.

LG: Schmeig (Sr)
C: Drey (Sr)
RG: Snapp (Jr)
RT: De Boef (RS-So)

With Jason King and potentailly Watson to push the OG/C for spots and Devin Smith, Jordan Roos and Cameron Cermin to push for time at OT – with King and Smith looking the most ready for playing time.

Hope looks like he has something going in the offensive line recruiting game and his development of Purdue from a Tiller passing offense to a run first team behind a big offensive line.

Their O-line is always dominating and just runs over ppl all the time. From Ron Dayne all the way to Monty Ball, u can always count on Wisky’s O-line to open up big holes.

Too bad, their offensive coordinator now goes to Pitt…
