Gooden, Lucas won't miss bowl game...
"I don't anticipate bowl practices or bowl playing time being effected by the incident," Hope said.
according to Mike Carmin's tweet...
How about a reason WHY you made that decision, Danny?

Maybe DH knows that WMU will just eat our defense alive and that will be punishment enough for these two?
They embarrassed the department and school by getting caught up in a situation but still get to compete on a field with players who were (at least for this time period) living to the correct standards of a student athlete. I find this disappointing on how he handled the situation. Some considered this minor incident and it actually might be, but either way, he just set a tone to his team that issues like this can be overlooked.
At some point he knows this game affects the future of many things, he needs everything he can to win.
I still think that he does not have the team. The issues with some of our major starters (CTB and OJ) for academic and other off the field issues with the law, point to a direction that Purdue should not be around.
A players coach would issues immediate discipline, not wait. You have weeks to focus and prepare for this magical bowl game that was graciously gifted to our 6-6 team. So why blow it by getting in trouble?
Coz he doesn't want us to get blown out and lost his job?
I was just praising Hope for HANDLING when players break rules (e.g. suspend Ross and Beckford), but then comes this. I don’t want to rush to judgment, but unless Hope gives a good explanation, he just lost even the only thing that I can actually say I respected him for. My feeling is that he would have suspended the players already if it is against some nonconf cupcake teams.
Yep, have to agree.
Nobody cares about your fantasy baseball team

In addition to my comment above, some on other boards make the excuse that these players shouldn’t get suspended because any normal student would just get a slap on the wrist. The players have to pay the fines and possible dean of student corrective actions, but a normal student would have to do that too. The difference here is that these are football players they need to be at a higher standard and since they are involved in a organized school team a punishment should be in order, and as much as we or DH wants to have them out of the bowl game, it is the right thing to do.
I believe that he is basing the punishment (or lack thereof) on the fact that charges were dropped...
Therefore there was no crime. They are paying their unpaid tickets, etc. I would argue, however, that they should still be punished… for their stupidity if nothing else!!!!!!

Grow some balls Hope
This is just the type of thing I get pissed about living in Ohio. I rail on my friends for OSU having a bunch of criminals (among many other types of people) on their athletic teams and rarely getting punished appropriately. These two idiots broke the law (charges dropped or not… they did it and you can bet your sweet ass they wouldn’t have been dropped had it been any one of us) and shouldn’t even sniff 1 second of playing time in the bowl game. Hope/Burke/Purdue needs to grow some balls. This particular story makes me very disappointed in Purdue. I thought/hoped we were above the typical “slap on the wrist” or “look the other way” mentality with college athletes.
Buckeye by birth, but BOILERMAKER by the grace of God!
and you can bet your sweet ass they wouldn’t have been dropped had it been any one of us
Actually you’d most likely have the same odds for getting the charges dropped.
Any knowledge of the legal system and you’ll see a mix of countless slaps on the wrist, dropped charges and a whole lot of nothing happen from what should be easy to handle charges all the time. Unless you’re a repeat offender or commit a serious violation a lot of jurisdictions (unless you live in a small town) don’t really spend the time / have the time / care about petty offenses.
Most places as long as you have no record you might, at worse, get a slap on the wrist for their offense and then have to pay the parking fines they had.
