Around SBN: How The Kings Beat The Coyotes: Lather, Rinse, Repeat

John Purdue Club

I have been a Purdue fan since 1994, I was only 8 years old.  I have supported this team through thick and thin   I will ALWAYS support our players but this coaching staff must go.  I can understand losing a few close games to good teams but losing this bad multiple years is unacceptable.  Northwestern just beat Nebraska.  Do we have the coach to beat Nebraska, yes but he is the basketball coach not football.

We have chosen to make basketball a priority which is awesome but we need to make our money maker a priority as well.   Ricardo Allen, Ralph Bolden and the rest of the team deserve better, we have players on our roster that can make the NFL but not with the current coaching staff.

We as John Purdue Club members need to let our voices be heard, otherwise we will just stand by for yet, another disappointing season after season, unless Nancy Cross yells at us again.

I hate to be negative but we really need to demand better.  IU has a awful football team but they have NCAA title banners, we do not (and they went out and hired a real coach for football and we hired a couch from kentucky.....need i say more).  I am expecting to receive some hate from this message but I am tired of going on the road every week and getting blown out.

TMill - you are the man and i love reading your reports every week, the reason i come here over indystar is because of your honesty.  your report after the wisconsin game was right on the money.  AND FYI you were in the same row as me during the ND blowout.  I was the guy who gave up after the first TD.

As I vent to all of you.

I will be attending the O$U Purdue game next weekend and I will be cheering on Purdue. so

Completely Agree!!!

I too am a life long fan and alum. I also pay for All American status with JPC. These last 3 or 4 years have been painfully difficult to stomach. I have invested 10K in a new tailgate vehicle and am in the first row of the R lot every game and the excitement for Purdue football is almost non existent . I long for the days not too long ago when you could really be proud to a Boilermaker football fan. I have personally invested a lot to help make the game day experience a special one for many friends and alumni that travel from far distances to spend a day at Ross-Ade and I expect the same from Purdue. The sooner we can stop the bleeding this coach and his staff has caused, the sooner the healing can begin. It really can’t get much worse, but will if Danny Hope is here for any much longer. I graduated in 1988, so I lived thru Burnett/Akers/Colleto mistakes and in my opinion Danny is worse than all three of those coaches!!! It will be very difficult for me to support Purdue football next year or the year after that if DH is still leading this team.

Painfully agree

I had high hopes for Coach Hope when he came to West Lafayette and have been disappointed in the results. Injuries have been a large part of the problem, but we are not even competitive against the better teams in this league. I don’t fool myself into thinking that we can compete for championships every year in a league with so many historic programs, but I would at least like to ruin somebody’s season every year. With so much money now going to basketball, which is fine with me, I think it will be hard to pay for even a top tier assistant coach. I know Purdue wants to always be in the black with it’s athletic department so the only way I see getting a really good coach is for fans and alumni to open up the wallets and specifically say that we want a change. For the number of alumni that we have, I think the membership in JPC is on the low side. I only give at a Captain level and I could probably do more myself. I’ll start by raising my giving with the designation that I hope to see a head coaching change for our football team. This weekend, watching the wisconsin game, the announcers made a comment about how it wasn’t that long ago that this was a much looked forward to game and that Purdue used to be competitive in the Big 10. That kinda hurt.

WRONG!!!! You sound like SEC mouth-breathers!

Hope’s got a lot of young, fast players in the program. He deserves the chance to graduate one class. Let him get Rob Henry and Ricardo Allen to upperclassman status before we shove him out the door. I love Purdue, but we have to be realistic about where we fit in the hierarchy of college football.
Great coaches aren’t beating down the door to stay here forever. We need to cultivate a reputation as a school that will give you enough time to succeed. That will entice talented coaches to take on a project.

Jim Harbaugh

Morgan Burke homework assignment: Study what Harbaugh was able do at Stanford, and now in his first year with the Niners.

One man can change a program. The right one can do it his first year on the job.

Totally disagree

It’s not like we’re asking for a coach to take us to a national championship or anything, we want a coach who will actually take us to a bowl game and make us somewhat competetive for a Big 10 championship. Hope’s offense is awful and the defense has some solid pieces but the Wisconsin/ND/Michigan games proved we’re no where near even being relevent. If he goes three straight years losing to a non-BCS conference game that should be a gimme and doesn’t go to a bowl game three straight years he needs to get out.
