I'm sure this has been discussed at some point on the site, but after seeing almost every media outlets predictions for B10 standings I just wanted to get mine out there - and see your's - because some of what seems to be accepted wisdom just baffles me.
Why is Wiscy lauded by most to be a lock for 2nd when they lost Jon Luer - arguably their best player? Tayler is great, but he isn't going to carry that team without another scoring threat like Luer who can create their own shots.
Why is Michigan always picked ahead of Purdue? They lost their best player as well.
Why is everyone so down on Michigan St.? They have a ton of talent, and it might be addition by subtraction without Summers and Lucas ball-hogging and taking bad shots.
Why does anyone think this is Northwestern's year after they lose the heart of their team in Juice Thompson?
So here's my picks - just so we can come back here at the end of the season and brag about how smart we are:
1. Ohio St.
3. Michigan St.
6. Minnesota (Mbakwe and Sampson are the best frontcourt combo in the B10, and all the turmoil from last season is gone)
8. Iowa (three guys capable of 20 points on any given night)
9. Indiana (still has Tom Crean on the sidelines)
12. Penn St.
