My Mackey experience
Hello Boilers
I'm sure many of you know me from my participation on Hammer and Rails. I had the privilege of attending the basketball game last night, and even got very good seats in section 18. Unfortunately for you I was there in Miami attire. The story is that my dad went to UM for undergraduate and Purdue for graduate and those are our two teams. When the schedule came out we cringed and feared this game as a break in our fandom.
I flew up from Orlando (my hometown) and was a little scared flying alone at 14. I met my dad at a Steak and Shake in Lebanon and we drove through the snow to Mackey. Before the game we decided that we would wear and "root" for Miami because it would be a bigger win for them. When I arrived I heard nothing negative from Purdue fans and was greeted nicely even in my "Its a U thing" shirt and green Miami shorts. Throughout the game I was perplexed and didn't really care what happened. It was hard for me to not sing and clap to the cheers/songs, and I would've but I would've looked like an idiot doing it in Miami gear. Even though my Canes lost it didn't matter. I had a great time at a beautiful arena, and with great fans. I loved Purdue and everything about the university, maybe I'll even end up there for my college years.

Very well-spoken 14-year-old!
Nice, classy post, I’m sure Purdue would love to have you! Btw – by any chance, are you a 6’ 8" basketball stud?
Next time, if you really don’t care who wins, root for the home team, it’s much more fun! And when you’re older, bet the Pass Line at the Craps table.
Boiler Up!
I'm 6"3 now
But don’t actually play basketball, I play football and baseball
Good game homie

Glad you enjoyed your trip.
Bet you won’t be wearing your green Miami shorts the next time you fly into a Northern Indiana snow storm.
Study hard, tiqu – admission to Purdue is tough for out of state applicants.
….and don’t think I’ve forgotten what you said about my Mama in the Iona open thread!
"There's no hope until Hope is gone!"
I realized it was 25 degrees...
after I only packed shorts
Good game homie

It's not that tough for out-of-staters
Speaking as one, Purdue does love that out-of-state money.
