Boilers Win Big Ten Honors
The Big Ten Awards were announced earlier tonight and we had several guys honored with second team all-Big Ten honors and one guy with a first team honor.
First of all, we have Kawann Short, who was a First Team All-Big Ten selection as a defensive tackle according to the media. The conference coaches placed him on the second team, but Short was the only Boilermaker that received First Team honors by the coaches or the media.
We did have several Second Team honorees though. According to the coaches, Carson Wiggs was the Second Team All-conference kicker, and Ricardo Allen was Second Team All-Conference at cornerback. Cody Webster was also the second team All-Conference punter according to the coaches.
With the media, Webster was also a Second Team pick, so I guess that makes him a consensus Second Team All-Conference.
As far as honorable mention, the coaches had Dennis Kelly and Joe Holland. The media was more generous. Allen, Dwayne Beckford, Holland, Kelly, and Wiggs were Honorable mention selections.

Webster can thank Wiggs for his accolades...
It’s a lot easier to post a nice average if you aren’t asked to punt on the other side of the 50.
What's been going on with Webster?
He’s been pretty bad the last few games with a horrible average, especially compared to the first 3/4ths of the season

And I know not all of it was due to wind.

Shanks reappear
His Achilles Heal is shanks, which were much more plentiful earlier in his career. They have popped up again (pun intended). For a guy who can hit it pretty good he has always shown some shanks. That to me is poor concentration/getting rattled, whatever.

Kick Returner
Why is there no spot for Kick Returners? I thought for sure Mostert would get an award, and to my dismay, there is no spot on the team for them…..
