Welcome to the Fold: Tyreece Jiles

Commit number 22 for 2012 comes in the form of Tyreece Jiles.  Jiles was a soft verbal to North Carolina, but saw that the grass was greener at Purdue.   The three-star cornerback out of Cape Coral, Florida will add some depth and speed to our secondary.

However, I project Jiles to redshirt next season.  It has nothing to do with his skills, but when you combine the depth we have at cornerback, plus the fact Jiles weighs all of 165 pounds, he sounds like a guy who needs to hit a college weight room for a year.

Highlights were scarce for Jiles, but I did see some footage of him at the Tampa Badger 7 on 7 DB Camp.  His clip is the very first one in the video and he shows pretty good ball recognition.  In other news, Deon Bush also makes an appearance if you want to look at him.

Jiles can hopefully replicate the career of current CB Ricardo Allen.  Neither man is that big, but heart and determination allow Allen to maximize his skill set, despite his stature.  I hope Jiles can do the same thing.

Welcome to the fold, Tyreece!
