Hollowell still in-play

I posted a comment on Hammer and Rails about Hollowell's interest in Purdue a few weeks ago.  This article in the "IU"star confirms(indirectly) what I was told.

1. Hollowell going to IU is very unlikely now....even though they quoted him as saying IU was still one of his favorites

As most of us know by now, that is a very political statement.

2. Ohio St is still a major player in his recruitment.

3. Purdue IS definitely in the game now...where they were not before.  Hollowell is very interested in Purdue but while they have made a push for him....it hasn't been major.

I haven't had the chance to see him play in person.....I have been told that while he is a stud....he tends to plays lazy in spurts....May be why coach Painter hasn't put the full-court press on him.

I hope we get him

Probably helps us tremendously that Terone Johnson has his ear.

Would be nice, but.....

Does Painter and Co. think he is worth over committing on schollies? Maybe this shows that Painter has been going harder at him then we thought (or he’s just going to Ohio State now)

Do want.

Glad to hear Terone is doin’ work on him. Although it’s still probably a longshot.

I'd take Hollowell or Harris.

Either one would be an awesome get. At this point I’m not being picky.

Likely

From what I have read, head and understood, Harris is a pretty strong IU lean. If and when Harris commits to IU, expect Hollowell to become much more intrested in Purdue. If it was up to him I think he’d been thinking IU or OSU. But OSU has seemed to back off some time ago, and IU is pushing full-court for Harris.

Harris still first choice

Harris may still be a strong IU or MSU lean but Purdue is still going after him as their #1 priority. Matty must think he has a decent chance and the longer this goes the better his chances. I agree if Harris does commit elsewhere, Hollowell will immediately become the Boilers focus.

What about Smith-Rivera?

His decommitment to Xavier has gone kinda overlooked. I would love to get him as well.

Would be interesting

He’d have nice chemistry with Terone Johnson since they combined to win a state title last year.

A futile crusade to prevent mass ignorance

Available Scholarship?

http://oldgoldfreepress.com/hoopsrecruiting/mscholar.shtml

I could be wrong but I don’t think we have any scholarships available for the 2012 recruiting class. Are we assuming someone leaves the program? Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to get either Hollowell or Harris but I have a hard time believing either will commit without a scholarship available. Harris is a terrific athlete and could be great in our system.

Interesting Chatter

I agree with BoilerFan – if my math is correct, we would need someone to transfer to have a scholarship available. I also beleive IU is down to one left, so they are making a big push for that one last blue chip recruit. All the internet chatter claims Gary Harris has narrowed his choices down to IU and MSU and if you believe an IU fan’s comment, he claims Harris made a decision over the break and will committ to IU per a leak from Yogi F. I hope this is just B.S. and that is not the case. If Harris does not committ to Purdue, I just hope he goes anywhere but IU>.
