Purdue’s Ryne Smith earns his first Big Ten Player of the Week honor after shooting 78.6 percent from beyond the arc and averaging a team-best 19.0 points per game in the Boilermakers’ wins over Penn State and Iowa. Smith also averaged 3.5 rebounds per game on the week which tripled his career average of 1.0 per outing. The Toledo, Ohio, native opened the week with a career-high 20 points at Penn State, leading all scorers in the game. He was 5-of-5 from three-point range against the Nittany Lions, which tied the Purdue record for threes in a game without a miss. Against Iowa, Smith finished with a game-high 18 points on a career-high six triples. He also tied a career high with three assists.
