Apparently, I don’t know the limits of my own stupidity
Earlier this morning I had a brain fart. It was one that had been building up since I received an "anonymous" e-mail on Saturday afternoon. I had debated publishing it since then. Since this is the first time I had ever received anything like this, I finally decided that simply reporting it was the right thing to do and any judgments would be made based on the e-mail rather than the site itself.
Obviously, I don't know the limits of my own stupidity. As you can see, the article is now gone and to quote the great Dylan McKay, "May the bridges I burn light the way." The comments received both on the article itself in the short time it was up and on GBI are absolutely 100% correct. That kind of crap does not belong here.
It is one thing to start a blogwar with the likes of Syracuse by calling them overrated. Shoot, I even came clean and backed off in my stance on that. It is another to post unsubstantiated rumors and name names. I am better that, and I need to freaking act like it.
I therefore apologize to any readers I have turned off to the site with that post. It was irresponsible and wrong. This site is nothing without you readers. That has been my stance from the very beginning. You readers have made this site, and I can only destroy both the site and my readership by continuing to post crap like what was posted this morning.
Thank you for calling me on my own mistake for everyone that called me on it. Consider this a one-time screw up and I will now return to cogent analysis, general jackassery in terms of power rankings based on pop culture, and viciously defending all things Purdue.

It was stupid
I had received an e-mail from “an anoymous source in the know” about a cover-up. It should have never been reported.

Reminds me of this quote....
“How long are you gonna keep this bullshit up,Ed?Huh?You know goddamn well there was no such incident. There was an alleged incident which you invented. In the same way that if I assert that you sleep with sheep, than it is alleged that you sleep with sheep.”
Ever Grateful. Ever True.
You can't go wrong with timely 90s TV quotes
That said, I fully support more general jackassery of the hilarious variety.

Maybe TMill needs to start another feature series. I propose Robert (half gainer / no brainer) Marve as the subject of the pilot episode. Then, he could have Mrs TMill (an expert on both cultures) tutor young Robert on the difference in personal comport between WLaf and Coral Friggin’ Gables. If that doesn’t do the job, have Kerrigan and Gaston hit HIM at the same time. And someone please get the kid a long sleeve shirt for game day.
Pologize for being off topic- but deflepgroupie got me thinkin’…
Keep up the fine work, TMill!
hehehehe
Deflepgroupie is actually the one and only Mrs. T-Mill making a rare appearance.

Oh
Sorry to cut you out of the loop. Didn’t know I was REPLYing directly to the mothership.
To prepare for the season, I was reviewing some of your old football posts. Saw a pic of your better half on the Ross Ade turf (after the OSU game, I think). I was surprised to see her flashing the Univ of Utah sign ;).
Lastly (for Mike), as anyone who reads this blog knows, TMill’s PJs have little stacks of PANCAKES on ’em!
+1
If you get yelled at for posting it, you should get the opposite for admitting a mistake and doing the right thing.
They weren't really screams-
just that echoing slow motion “Noooooooooooooo” as the authors index finger starts to click “send”…

I heard from an anonymous source
That BoilerTMill sleeps in Strawberry Shortcake pajamas. I read it on the internet, so it must be true.
I resent that!

Thanks
For recognizing your error. That is why I will continue to read your blog. Oh, and the fact that I bleed Old Gold and Black.
BTFU
keep it up
Keep doing the good work and let the other parts slide back into the crapper they came from.
I just figured out
why this site is so special. Most of the contributors have been visiting forums for quite awhile, and have all gone down the road of writing senseless, incoherent, combative, and psycho babble type shit at one time or another. Clicking “unsend” is impossible. I know I totally blew it on some of the SD Charger forums i used to hang out at.
Made a mistake, quickly undid it
Feels a bit contrariwise to post “it’ll die down, and you deserve it to” this late, but…you’ve learned what you can & aren’t going to let that slow you down.
The only way to stop making mistakes is to stop posting totally. That would suck for us all.

HammerAndRails is still the #1 Big Ten team blog in the hearts of Ducks fans everywhere. If you need tips on how to publish a completely unfounded story and get away with it, just contact John Canzano of the Oregonian. Basically you cite “anonymous sources close to the team”, then when you are proven wrong just never ever ever bring it up again or address it in any way. Like when he reported last year that Masoli was out for the year with a season-ending knee injury. Then Masoli missed only the UCLA game and he just went along like nothing happened, and now can’t understand why people don’t want to believe him when he uses unnamed sources again!
Anyway…we all make mistakes. You owned up to it and handled it like a man…you boilered up!
And in the Yell-O corner, with a 2009 conference record of 8 wins, 1 loss...the REIGNING...DEFENDING...UNDISPUTED Champions of the PAC TEN...the Oregon Ducks!
