SAY IT AINT SO!!!
It's been confirmed, but I still in a state of disbelief. Branden Dawson has made his college decision: MSU. I thought the Tyler Zeller saga was bad, but this might be a little more difficult to get over. Purdue had little reason up until this evening to think we were anything but the top of the list, much less that he was going to make a decision this summer. I'm going to predict Purdue boards will be in panic mode for weeks to come after this shocker. Regardless, at the end of the day, this is definitely not the end of the world by any means. But it sure stings like a *****.

Ah well
At least he didn’t go to Indiana.

I'm still in shock...
Maybe it was better this way. Instead of dragging it out until the spring, he ripped it off like a band-aid.
Ugh
Really? Is this all because Chris Allen was dismissed?
Erm, what?
Allen would have been a true senior. He and Dawson would never have played together.

On the bright side
At least he didn’t get an hour long special on ESPN. I’m sure the Paint Crew will give him a warm welcome when he makes his first appearance at Mackey.
Lord, jager me strength.

He'll be one and done....
Minimizes the damage, still, you have to wonder why Purdue still isn’t resonating with kids.
This year's national title will help with that.

More like 76-64 bitch....
Want t know something else…it’s gonna happen again
State fan here
We’re definitely really pumped about this one. Apparently, Izzo offered & got a verbal from his AAU PG today, Travis Trice (though he is from Ohio). That, and the commit from Ohio stud forward Kenny Kaminski on Monday are helping to set up nicely continued Spartan excellence.
So what’s gonig on, recruiting-wise, in WL right now to keep pace the next few years? I love having our two schools consistently recognized among a handful of real contenders each of the past few seasons, and would love to see the Midwest & B10 continue to prove its excellence for years to come. So what r the Boilers doing to keep up their end of the bargain?
Better question....
Why did Michigan State name their mascot after an extinct brand of militant homosexuals? Discuss.
Neither
I was seriously asking what Purdue’s got in the wings to keep it’s hoops program at a high level.
JJ, Moore & Hummel are all great, and if Painter can recruit at that level once, he can do it again. You guys are facing a lot of stiff in-state competition between Butler, IU & even ND, so what are the Boilermakers doing to remain the tops in their state, and to keep the national love coming the B10’s way?
I don't think we're so much going to win on talent and stars
Purdue’s biggest success has always come from guys like Kramer, Landry, and Cardinal. They are those that give in to the team concept and are willing to do the dirty work and “Little Things” We’re not often going to get hte supreme talents that can be NBA material in a year or two. We are going to get good, fundamentally sound guys that will stay 3-4 years and fight light mad bastards to win.

Which reminds me
Let’s lay off the Spartan bashing here a little, guys. This has always been a classy, respectful place especially when it comes to MSU. The TOC guys like LVS and Pete Rossman have been nothing but respectful to us in the past, and we have been respectful to them in turn. Let’s save the bashing for that which there is a mutual hatred: Notre Dame Football.

We also like you guys
for starting to really get under Michigan’s skin with the whole snake oil thing and that midfield confrontation about Reckman (spelling?) last year.
Light a man a fire, he'll stay warm for a day.
Light a man afire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
It's about the roster...
From what I’ve read elsewhere it sounds like he liked MSU roster better because it would allow him to play wing as opposed to down low. Which he may have a point. MSU has more proven size than us. He also seemed pretty enamored with Izzo being at “all of his games” this summer. As someone said at least it isn’t IU and at least he never committed and then decommitted (Vaden I’m looking at you).
That I don't know...
“Coach (Tom) Izzo, Georgetown and UCLA have been there for every game,” he said. “They were even there when I was sitting out with a concussion, so that is nice to see.”
This was in reference to AAU games this summer I believe. I think he succumbed to the recency effect. Painter went harder, earlier than everyone else, but maybe slacked this summer when he thought he had done enough.
Well shoot
He could have been Robbie 2.0, forward size playing anywhere from the 1 to the 4 depending on the matchups and the situation. Oh well.
So there are two slots left in the ‘11-’12 class? Is there anyone left worth targeting? Maybe leave one (or both) of them open and make ‘12-’13 another superclass?
Targeting...
We’re still trying to get Chasson Randle.
This begs the question
What’s is the Status on going after the Big Dog’s son? That should be a slam dunk!

No slam dunk
He’s not as good as the name suggests. Take away his name, and I doubt you’d be anywhere near as interested.
And unfortunately, I am not so sure the real Big Dawg is bleeding a whole bunch of Black and Gold…
