74 Days to Purdue Football: Connor Snapp

Our tour of offensive linesmen continues today with another redshirt freshman who may be one of the biggest players on the team. He comes to us as a walk-on, but at one time starting left tackle Dennis Kelly was a walk-on. So was Nick Hardwick, who is now a Pro Bowler out in San Diego.

Connor Snapp - Fr. (RS)

Hometown: Valparaiso, IN (Valparaiso HS)

Offensive Guard

6'7, 321 pounds

2010 Projection: Offensive line reserve

Snapp will look to earn a spot along the offensive line during his career.

Connor was a walk-on from Robbie Hummel High in Valparaiso. He redshirted this past season after lettering for three years at Valparaiso. He was given preferred walk-on status, which I understand is an agreement for a spot on the team, but he had to pay his own way. The Northwest Indiana time had a great profile on him last summer after he received his late offer from Purdue.

I do like this kid's size. You can't teach 6'7" 320 pounds, so I think there is the potential he could be a regular contributor if he continues to work hard. As the profile stated, he had to work hard just to be a starter in high school after moving to Indiana from Colorado. Ken Plue has one of the guard spots locked down for the next two years, but there could be an opening once Plue is off to the NFL.
