The only person that I won’t taunt is Digger- cuz last night he was HUGELY complimentary of our players effort. But of course everybody selected A&M-

Eat my crusty ball sack all of you- “A&M ’s mouths are watering to get to houston”.

Well A&M go on and git- gwan now- back to TX 4 u all…

Chris Kramer...

…may actually mean more to this team than Robbie Hummel. He definitely does at this point, but given our season…I’m thinking yes.

by Poque on Mar 21, 2010 8:10 PM EDT reply actions

I think...

… we’d have been a #1 seed with Hummel, and the way the tournament is going, one of the favorites to take it all. Without him, it’s just gonna me more of a roller coaster ride getting there.

We won in OT

That was the one thing I didn’t think we could do- ever since the Ohio OT (FB) the year they won the whole enchilada- we have been cursed!

Boilermakers!!

Watching the game at a BWs in College Park, MD. Two guys in the bar decide to be A&M fans because my roommate and I (2 girls) are cheering for Purdue. When we win, I buy them a Boilermaker to split. I chose well whiskey. They declined at first but still told the bartender to send it. Had to explain a Boilermaker when one of them did the whiskey shot first. What a great day to be a Boilermaker! Let the war with my Duke neighbor begin!!

Can this be added to Big Ten’s Greatest Games? Can it be up by morning?

by dbaltman on Mar 21, 2010 8:35 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

I'd say wait for a week from now

See if there are a bunch to add all at once :).

The only possible bad thing from this game is if Robbie jumped out of his hospital bed on the game winning shot and broke something. I’ve heard nothing.

Oh, and as you implied, if anyone ever says again that a low scoring game isn’t exciting…

by Beavis Beefcake on Mar 21, 2010 8:49 PM EDT up reply actions

There are already two to add from today

Not sure a ten-point collapse in the final two minutes is “greatest game ever”-worthy, but the way it ended afterward sure as hell was.

by SpartanDan on Mar 21, 2010 9:03 PM EDT up reply actions

It is damn worthy

I said it earlier and I’ll say it again. The last 4 possessions of that game were the most exciting I’ve seen in a long time.

First paragraph from the AP writeup

“Determined and undaunted, 6-foot-3 Chris Kramer bulled past one defender 4 inches taller than him. He flipped a layup over another 6 inches taller. Seconds later, he was getting pounded by his own teammates.”

I mean, I’m not always on the lookout for double-entendre, but come on!

FIVE top-3 seeds for the Big East.

Syracuse, WV, Nova, Gtown, and Pitt.
Two are left. And that’s all the Little East has got.
The Big Ten has three, and two of them did it without their best player.

FUCK YEAH BIG TEN

by shoein on Mar 21, 2010 10:23 PM EDT up reply actions

It gets worse

in terms of “double entendre” if you replace “taller” with “longer” in the above post.

by teutonic13 on Mar 21, 2010 8:52 PM EDT up reply actions

The last paragraph is worse...

“After Holmes’ last miss, Kramer pounded his massive, football-player-sized chest. The former high school safety and star quarterback from Huntington, Ind., better known as the two-time Big Ten defensive player of the year, then got pounded from in front and behind by his giddy teammates.”

by chops1221 on Mar 21, 2010 8:53 PM EDT up reply actions

Shit

I skimmed through the last couple paragraphs. I thought you were making that up until I read it.

From MSNBC..

PLAYER OF THE DAY: Chris Kramer, Purdue

Everyone had written off the Boilermakers when they were embarrassed in the Big Ten tournament by Minnesota without Robbie Hummel. Apparently, no one told Purdue they were supposed to lose, as they have now won two games and advanced to the Sweet 16. Today, in an overtime win against Texas A&M, Kramer was Purdue’s MVP.

Kramer made up for Hummel’s production today. He had 17 points, 6 boards, and 3 steals. But Kramer’s performance was so much more than his numbers. The senior locked up A&M’s Donald Sloan, who finished with just 11 points on 4-17 shooting, seven below his season average. He had seven points and an assist, sparking a 17-2 Purdue run that allowed the Boilers to overcome an 11 point deficit. He also scored the game winning basket, driving by A&M’s Nathan Walkup for a layup with 4.9 seconds left.
