Adam Rittenberg Final Recap
Best Quote from this article"
The officiating crew of Curtis Shaw, Paul Janssen and Dan Chrisman played far too big a role in the game, making questionable calls that affected both teams. There was no flow at all in the second half because a minute didn't go by without a whistle. Northwestern's entire starting backcourt fouled out, and Purdue also had several players in foul trouble. There were 52 fouls called.
Having Shaw officiate your conference tournament is just asking for national embarrassment, and the other two weren't much better.
"Big Ten basketball's reputation is it's a physical game," Shurna said. "A lot of calls were being called today, and it's a little tougher to get into it."

How true.
Funny, I just made a similar comment on S.O.P. And that’s not sour grapes (pun sort of intended) – they made as many shitty touch foul calls on Purdue as they did NU.
Agreed
The inadvertent whistle changed possession at a crucial point in the game. For as many ticky-tacks, there were numerous no-calls as well. Too bad, the refs missed a pretty good game.
Two that stood out...
Etwaun getting hacked on the arm during a jumper. The ball fell 8 feet short of the bucket and the guy wasn’t even close to blocking it, yet no call.
Etwaun landing with the ball with no contact from NWestern and then going back up to hit the two footer. No travel call.
I still don’t understand the JJ technical. Because he turned around and said something to the guy about holding him? Big over-reaction by the official on that call.
Equally bad for both teams.
Nobody cares about your fantasy baseball team
