Drew Brees: Super Bowl Champion and MVP.
A Hurricane helped him on defense. A Hurricane got the game winning TD pass from him, and a Hoosier sealed it. Our favorite Boiler now has his ring and a Super Bowl MVP. Go ahead and celebrate tonight, Drew. You have earned it. Hammer & Rails Nation is with you.
BTW: Great shot of Len Dawson, one of the first in the cradle of quarterbacks, passing the trophy to the Saints.
Also for the record: Purdue is now tied with Alabama for having 3 quarterbacks that have won Super Bowls. Len Dawson, Bob Griese and Drew Brees.

And he gets a few extra points in my book for having his son wear ear protection. One of my biggest pet peeves is parents exposing kids to loud noises (sports, concerts, etc.) without ear protection.

Phenomenal player
And an even better man, it seems. Quite a credit to Joe Tiller and Purdue.

That felt great.
Sorry to you Colts fans, but hopefully Brees is some consolation. What a QB.

Also happy for Brees
Drew Brees has done so much for Purdue University, on the field as a student athlete, and with vocal and financial support as an alum. He made Purdue a better place and continues to do so. Thank you, Drew, and congratulations on reaching the professional pinnacle.

Excellent Accomplishment!
Awesome for him and the job he’s done in that city both on and off the field .Incredible performance on the big stage. Colts played very hard and it was a great game! Very glad that the only knock on him: not winning the Super Bowl is gone! He’s always been a fierce competitor and a winner. I hope he’s able to add a few more rings to it in his career. Wonder if this can help Purdue in recruiting, I assume it can’t hurt.

Chargers
They’ve GOT to be kicking themselves. They had Brees and Tomlinson in their primes and in the same week Drew wins the super Bowl (MVP) and LDT told the media he doesn’t expect to come back. They really missed a window and wasted a great 2001 draft.

Stupid Tide
I don’t mean to take anything away from my beloved Boilermakers, but Alabama has three Super Bowl winning quarterbacks: Bart Starr, Joe Namath, and Ken Stabler. Regardless, go Saints. Excellent game by the always class Drew Brees.

3 starting quarter backs
Tide fan’s. Stabler wasn’t a starting quarterback, all 3 purdue QB’s were starters. Therefore it should be stated, Purdue, only college/University with 3 different Quarterbacks that were starters on SB championship teams

What?
Again, I’m not a Tide fan, and I’m not trying to belittle the accomplishment of Purdue and our amazing quarterbacks, but what? pro-football-reference.com has Stabler being the only (thus likely starting) quarterback for the Raiders in Super Bowl XI. (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/super-bowl/xi.htm). I’d love to be wrong here. Set me straight if I’m misreading this, because I want nothing more than Purdue to hold every sport record out there. (I almost cried when I found out that Notre Dame had five Super Bowl wins versus Purdue’s four).

ok.. you're right
i missed read the articles i found, so Alabama and purdue hold this title. Good to see.

that's too bad about the Tide
I’ll take being tied with Alabama. At least we have the most recent Superbowl. Of course, they did win the national championship. Maybe Kyle Orton can win it next year with the Broncos and we can take the lead again.

From Bill Simmons article on ESPN
Combining his 2008 season (second-most passing yards ever) with this season (winning a Super Bowl, outplaying Warner, Favre and Manning in the playoffs) and his Super Bowl performance (32-of-39, 288 yards, no picks, no fumbles, complete control), as well as what he means to his team and his city, I guess the biggest shocker coming out of Super Bowl XLIV is that Drew Brees is clearly the best quarterback alive right now.
I’m pretty sure there are still some other pretty good QB’s alive, but I don’t think too many of us will fight that nomination too hard.
Lord, beer me strength.

Read that today as well
Really surprised me.

That's surprising.
But with only a slight amount of homerism, I can agree with him. Being called the best QB in the league would be enough of a compliment, but best QB alive is even better.

Drew Breese
Drew’s tribute to his son as what makes his victory worthwhile was as moving a tribute to life as Tim Tebow’s highly discussed pro life ad. The pro-aborts wanted the stations to pull Tebow’s ad; amusingly the pro-aborts had no way of pressuring Breese not to love his son so deeply and openly. Go Tim! Go Drew!
