A Barn Razing: Purdue at Minnesota GameThread
Purdue Boilermakers at Minnesota Golden Gophers, Feb 24, 2010 8:30 PM EST
Because I can, here is every Purdue fan's favorite memory of a Boiler trip to Minnesota. It certainly beats Mike Alstott running for 4,000 yards, only to lose 59-56 because Jim Colletto doesn't know what defense is.

Out of curiosity
I’ll be at the game, but i’ll miss the ol live thread. Any way for me to post via phone?
You can post from your phone browser.
Not the greatest way, but good enough. Gotta love the gamethreads.

Yeah, SBN has a mobile version of all the sites.

Thanks

Pregame silly stats
Gonna be a tough one. I have a good feeling about this game, but I’m not sure it’s the good feeling I sucker myself into feeling or a real one.
Expected wins per KenPom:
Purdue 14.15 (55% vs Minnesota)
OSU 13.59
MSU 12.95
Wisconsin 12.47
Illinois 11.12
Minnesota 9.41
Looks like PSU gave up an early lead to OSU who’re just getting more chances at the bucket.
Take care of one’s own business is the first order of business and all, though it’s fun to think, how cool would it be for this team to have a shot at winning by 2 games?

ahh... nice video
wasn’t that brandon hance? my freshmen year down in WL, brings back memories
Remember where I was for that one
Watched it with my dad at my parents home. When the field goal went through we were both uncontrollably giggling like school girls.
The one and only Brandon Hance
I almost turned that game off. I had a chance to go too, but my friends and I decided not to. It would have been a great senior road trip.

I'll go one better
I thought the game was over. I saw that Minnesota gave Purdue 20 seconds or so, so I thought I stayed for the internet updates there. I noticed that it got reset to the 3rd quarter when Purdue got the ball back. Usually that means the end of the game. I was busy, so I got going. I figured I’d sat around hitting F5 enough, and I didn’t want to mope instead of do stuff I needd to. (I don’t remember if they had auto update back then.)
I didn’t listen to the radio in the car on the way out, but on the way in… wooooo!

USA! USA!
I"m on the west coast so I’m 3 hours behind most of you who, but the USA/Switzerland hockey game just went final for me.
Now its time to don the Big Dog jersey.
I was very nervous watching that game while on the treadmill today
I kept moving left and right as if I was on the ice and I even bumped into the sides of the treadmill a few times.
Treadmill + basketball = worse
Hand gestures are necessary to follow one’s favorite basketball team properly. Even if one remembers to keep quiet.

Treadmill + Hockey = still pretty bad
they move so fast across the screen on skates that i feel like I need to move with them.
I was unnaturally calm
b/c a buddy of mine on the east coast accidentally let me know about the goal that wasn’t at the end of the 2nd and our goal in the 3rd. That being said, the last couple of minutes were a little nerve-racking. Miller has been very good for us so far.
I was checking updates on my phone while on the way to the gym
then I arrive at the gym planning on running to start out my workout and…the health club’s cable was out!!! Fortunately, I got to see the last 8 minutes of the game. I was really paranoid because I had no idea what had happened and last I knew it was 0-0
And OSU keeps the pressure on

Even if Matt Painter was saying “possible ACL tear” that doesn’t tell us anything we don’t already know. We are all thinking that Hummel possibly tore his ACL.

Torn ACL and he's On the Bench
There’s no way he’s sitting there so relaxed like that if he just tore his ACL. He doesn’t even look like he’s in pain, or drugged up.

Medical Speculation
I work in medicine, It could be his knee, but it looked a lot like his ankle. If it is his knee, he wouldn’t necesarily be in pain right now. I think we’re all better off focusing on Smooge waking up and keeping Bade off the floor.
definitely looked like a knee the way he held it and reacted to it

Tip of my hat to guarding one of the Towers. Hard to do but man his defense is good.
And KG, Thank God for KG. We need him more than ever now.
Just got back....
So after just getting back from the game, I have to say that that was the best game I have been to in a long time. Purdue flipped it around and actually won the last 5 minutes, as opposed to just limping through them. Also had a really strong showing from Purdue alumni, the boilers can travel well!!! Great win, and Hummel….get better soon.
I just got back too
I second that entirely. Up in the corner nosebleed seats. Got dead silent when Hummel went down. Luckily KG and Kramer helped me forget about it for a delightful 10 minutes or so. Go figure that the one game I make it to this year is this one. Wow. I am going to have severe heart issues because of this team.
