Ryan Kerrigan Named Unanimous All-American
It is a slow news day because of Finals and I don't have much to write about, but this is some very good news to share. Kerrigan is Purdue's first unanimous All-American in 30 years. Ricardo Allen has also been named a Freshman All-American and the Big Ten's Freshman Defensive Player of the Year by Rivals.

Consensus vs Unanimous
Are these terms interchangeable when describing an All American? If not, could you explain how they differ?
Congratulations Superman!!

Consensus means they were on the majority of lists
While Unanimous means they are on every list.

OK, but....
does anyone define what ‘most’ means?
(friendly wager stakes on the line)

Yes
The NCAA does.

And they define 'Consensus' .....how?
I’m looking for which organization’s teams are considered (ie; AP, Sporting News, etc) and how many of these are required.

The organizations the NCAA recognizes are the American Football Coaches Association, the Walter Camp Football Foundation, the Football Writers Association of America, the Associated Press, and the Sporting News.
I’m fairly certain that at least 3 of the 5 makes you consensus.

I want to say Travis Dorsch was the last Consensus guy
I know he almost made it as both a kicker and a punter.

Nope
It’s a carryover from my Yahoo name, which I came up with for fantasy baseball use. I’m a big Smoltzie fan.

I was reading the purduesports.com article on this earlier
and they said he was consensus currently. He still had a shot to become our first unanimous All-American in 30 years later this month on December 20th when the Sporting News releases its team. Turns out they didn’t feel like waiting till the 20th though.
Well done, Ryan. We’re proud of you.
