TCU over Auburn?

Explain yourself! Really though, TCU knocks off an 1-11 New Mexico team, goes up two spots, and Auburn beats a ridiculously good Alabama team AT ‘bama and Auburn loses a spot? Boise State and TCU don’t (didn’t, in the case of BSU) deserve to even get a sniff at BCS championship game.

Oof.

I don't trust Auburn

They’re going to get burned in one of these games where they fall behind. the only reason they won was because they faced a backup QB and Alabama choked

A futile crusade to prevent mass ignorance

I agree.

Their defense is pretty suspect, but I think when it comes to the end of the year you have to give a nod to Strength of Schedule versus hunches. But other than that, looks good.

Why don't they deserve a sniff?

It is genuinely hard to win every game no matter what conference you’re in. Now, some schedules are obviously harder than others, and I think Auburn deserves a spot in the title game. But the central problem is that there are 3 teams that are most deserving this year. That is the problem with the B©S: a team can win every game and not win the title. In EVERY other sport, a team has a chance to win their way to the title regardless of who else wins out too. TCU will win out and not go to the title game, and that is just wrong.

I meant that in regard to the current standings. If Auburn is a one loss team and TCU is undefeated, then by all means they should go to the title game, although you’d still have an incredibly hard time convincing me and the rest of the world that TCU is a better team than Auburn. Yeah its hard to win out, regardless of your conference, but is someone swimming across a pool of water in the same time as someone in a pool of marshmallow make them equally as good? In some ways, I wish Auburn had lost a game and Boise State hadn’t so we could finally put to rest non-automatic qualifier thing. If you had an Oregon/BSU and Auburn/TCU showdown for bowl games, I’m pretty confident BSU and TCU both get utterly obliterated, like Wisconsin/IU obliterated. Also, you’ll hear no argument from me that the BCS is a flawed system. I couldn’t agree more, but imagine the uproar if, theoretically, in college basketball, you had Duke and Siena playing for a national championship, because they both went undefeated in their conference play, while MSU or Purdue settles for an automatic 3/4 place because they dropped one game in a ridiculously tough conference. It’s ludicrous to think that Siena deserves to be in that game, just like it is for TCU.

I'm not claiming any of the three is more deserving.

Simply pointing out why we need an 8-team playoff. It wouldn’t leave out anyone who truly deserved a shot, and if you drop two cupcake non-conferece games, you don’t even add games to the schedule,

Without a playoff

I think you have to give the nod to a team that goes undefeated than a team whose best wins are oregon state and utah. Of course, South Carolina is hot right now and has a good chance of beating auburn. If that happens, I think TCU deserves the chance to play in the title game. I wish someday Purdue was in the BCS conversation again.

Auburn at No. 3?

That is crazy. If Purdue was in Auburn’s shoes, you’d be outraged if someone had them at No. 3! I wish TCU all the best, but their schedule is weak compared to Auburn’s schedule.
