NCAA women's tournament round 2 open thread: North Carolina

Tonight at 7pm the sixth seeded Lady Boilers face third seeded North Caronlina with a berth in the women's Sweet 16 on the line. We all know UConn is going to win the women's tournament, but this Purdue team has enough talent to make a Final Four run. Tonight they will try to get revenge on North Carolina. The Tar Heels eliminated the women in 2006 and 2007. ESPN's preview can be found here.

This series has been very interesting over the years. North Carolina leads the overall series 4-1 and four of the five meetings have occured in the NCAA Tournament. North Carolina beat Purdue in the 1994 Women's Final Four on their way to a National title. Purdue returned the favor in 1999 in the sweet 16 for the Boilers' only win in the series. That win helped deliver our own National title. Carolina went on to the Final Four in both 2006 and 2007, so the stakes have often been very high when these two meet.

Call me crazy, but I have a good feeling about tonight. Some of the good men's karma is going to carry over and give us a Sweet 16 appearance in both brackets. Feel free to stop by during the game to comment along.

3 of 12 FG's with 9 turnovers in 12 minutes

Ugly stretch. Without that we’re up 15.

30-30 at the half

I get the feeling we haven’t seen Purdue’s best basketball yet in this game.

definitely

The last couple have been that way with them. With Rutgers winning we would be the higher seed in the next round too.

Not a fan of this switching games crap

They keep jumping around on the HD feed instead of leaving it on Purdue.

not so fast

It will take an unbelieveable effort for someone to beat UConn’s women. The Final Four is a definitely possibilty.
