Basketball orgy open thread

Today is when everything really kicks into gear. I will be at work, but I am going to try and get ESPN360 up and running for some live streaming. I've also added the four games I'll be tracking the closest this afternoon. Feel free to stop by and comment about what is going on beginning at noon. I'll be plugged in for the rest of the day. Thus begins the great two weeks of the year! From now until next Sunday I will be completely useless when it comes to decision-making.

Thankfully not this kind of orgy. There is something SERIOUSLY wrong with German people.

Ball State up early on Central Michigan

The MAC was so awful they are actually the #2 seed because they “won” their division. I guess if it helps them steal the auto-bid

Minny taking it to Northwestern

I really feel for the Wildcats too. they are a good club that just can’t finish.

Northwestern justs needs to settle down

Minnesota jacking up 3’s early in the shot clock with a 10 point lead….and missing badly. NW settles down they can still make this a game.

That seems to be the trend of the day

I wonder what boost, if any, we would get seeding-wise if teams like Ball state, Coppin State, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff won their tourneys?

Current scores of interest:

Minny 29, NW 20 – Northwestern needs it more, do they eliminate Minny with a win?
Va tech 25, Miami 15 – The game i can stream. Jack mcClinton has 2 pts. miami is better than this
Ball State 17, Cent. Mich. 11 – Could help us a little RPI-wise, plus no danger of Another game against the Chips.
Louisville 26, Providence 15 – and they lost to Minny? We easily handled Minny

Coble hits a 3, NW only down by 6 at the Half

Coble has 19. Minnesota not playing smart ball with a lead. Sounds familiar vs NW

do you think NW gets in with 2 wins or do they need 3?

Well, they'd play MSU next

Beat them and I think they’re probably in.

Agreed

That would make them 2-1 against Minny, 2-1 against MSU, and wins over Purdue, Florida State, Ohio State, and Wisconsin. They also had the balls to play Butler at Hinkle and lost a close one.

42-35 Minny w/ 13 min left

I’m sorry, Minnesota is not a smart team. Talented? Yes. Smart. No.

And NW can't buy a shot now...

…looks like Minny is moving on. And the Wildcats have a date with the NIT

NW was fringe at best

I still can’t help but think they had so many chances this year. Unfortunately that loss now becaome our worst of the season. The other teams we lost to are all likely heading to the NCAA’s

Baylor opening it up on Kansas

They won’t get in any other way, but they have enough talent to get hot and steal the Big 12 auto-bid. Upsets are abound in that tourney (texas tech over Texas A&M last night)

Solid team

I know they had a disappointing year, but the are definitely good enough to win that tourney and steal a bid.

Ball State wins

64-61 in OT. That helps a little RPI-wise. I just don’t understand why the MAC isn’t a better basketball conference. The Cards are 14-16, but in the semifinals of the MAC tourney.

Michigan looks good today

This probably puts them in, with an upset of Illinois defintiely sealing the deal.
