#16 Purdue at Michigan Open Thread
Just before Christmas my wife and I purchased an LG 42" 1080p flatscreen. Thanks to Ebay for the HDMI cables and Brighthouse Networks each game watched live from the comfort of the couch is now a treat. Feel free to join me on said couch tonight as the Boilers take another step toward a Big Ten title. I hereby declare this thread open to all!
God bless those Koreans and their fine engineering. They make basketball season that much more enjoyable.

Too funny from the end of the Cincy-West Virginia game
Bob Knight on a kid getting T’d up, “You just have to have better control of yourself than that.”
Well played, sir.

I think I am setting a new record for gametracker's open
Miami-Virginia
A hockey game
and Purdue-Michigan

Anyone else see Minnesota-Illinois tonight?
Just ugly once again. How did we play so poorly against them?

Purdue on SB Nation
I’m officially pumped.
Also, how sad is it that that 1080p tv is being used for a non-HD ESPN broadcast?
There we go!
About time we hit something. We’re shooting horribly and still leading. Keep it up!

Marcus Green
Nice offensive rebound and a couple of nice zone-splitting passes already. (Sorry, I’m a couple minutes behind)

Small Lineup
I don’t think i’ve seen this lineup all year. I’m officially intrigued.
Also, Green has been a lot more active in his all around game lately. I like to believe he was inspired by Buckets.
That's what we need from Green
When he does break through that makes us even more dangerous
A futile crusade to prevent mass ignorance
True
Although he has been the subject of many conversations between my dad and myself. We have decided that we feel a lot better when he plays like Strap from Hoosiers.
“Don’t shoot unless you’re under the basket, all alone.”
I know he has some range, but I feel a lot better when he chooses not to show it.
A Purdue player has flu-like symptoms?
I am SHOCKED!
Can we ever get healthy?
I hope the Mackey renovations include hyperbaric chambers

Is this guy watching the same game?
1 of 9 start is not efficient on the offensive end.

Man
That’s the second iffy foul call on Johnson.

So
We’re going small the rest of the first half at least.
Is Chris Reid going to see some minutes?
I might give him a couple
We’re hurting without Calasan doing some rebounding.
A futile crusade to prevent mass ignorance
Apparently
Green can’t even his Strap approved shots.
Keaton
is Jekyll and Hyde from just about any range this season. I just have no idea what’s going to happen when the ball leaves his hand. He does hit those deep balls from time to time. I remember near the end of the Wisky game he hit a 25 footer to spark our closing run

Anybody know
how many turnovers we’ve racked up so far?
by septimusharding on Feb 26, 2009 9:45 PM EST reply actions
I like the aggressiveness
but Michigan is just too quick for it
A futile crusade to prevent mass ignorance
Yeah
I wrote that before Marcus’ pass. I’m not too upset about that one. I’m more worried about what’s going on in our halfcourt sets.

Was he in the game?
Maybe they wanted to get E’Twaun going

Michigan Hanging Very Tough?
Ummm…Are they the ones with a 5’9" guy playing shooting guard?
In his defense
it looked like he barely touched him (if at all), but of course he’s gotta be more careful in that situation
by septimusharding on Feb 26, 2009 9:54 PM EST up reply actions
Ugly half
We’ve still got a chance though. If we can get JaJuan back in there and keep him from fouling It will help.
A futile crusade to prevent mass ignorance
Yup
I missed the first four minutes or so (thanks ESPN!), but it seemed like we were doing a good job pounding it inside to him.
by septimusharding on Feb 26, 2009 9:59 PM EST up reply actions
Do you play Reid a few minutes?
Just to make Michigan think about something else defensively?

I don't know
It might become a necessity if JJ gets 4 early. Or maybe Calasan will eat a can of spinach during halftime and feel better…..maybe?
by septimusharding on Feb 26, 2009 10:03 PM EST up reply actions
I'd at elast give him a shot if JJ gets 4

We're right in it
Even though a lot has gone wrong (foul trouble, the lack of scoring from Smooge or anyone who’s last name doesn’t rhyme with "Schmummel").
Given all that, down 3 on the road is a pretty decent spot to be in.
Keys tot he second half
Keep rebounding
Keep playing hard
hit shots
Get out on Harris
A futile crusade to prevent mass ignorance
Wow
When was the last time someone has been fouled on a 3 twice in a game? Don’t know that I’ve ever seen that.
I did in an intramural game once
knocked them down too

I'm more of a Herb Dove myself
If you take away his vertical and a few inches of height.
Just thinking the same thing
Very out of sync.
Agreed
And it’s huge because it changes the tenor of our offense so much.

Chris Reid time?
What do we have to lose
A futile crusade to prevent mass ignorance
by BoilerTMill on Feb 26, 2009 10:25 PM EST up reply actions
I guess
I did say that we could do it if JJ got 4 early. 15 minutes left is pretty damn early…
I doubt we’re going to see him, though.
by septimusharding on Feb 26, 2009 10:26 PM EST up reply actions
Go with
Hummel, Moore, Kramer, Grant and Green/LewJack.
It seems like LewJack is less effective without Johnson so play him a little less.
I don’t want Reid because going big slows us down and we seem better when we speed this up and don’t let them settle into their zone.
They can't miss right now
We’re hanging in but we need stops
A futile crusade to prevent mass ignorance
Agreed
Offensively we’re doing well but we need to stop them on the other end.

Great movement
This is definitely the best the offense has looked against a zone this year.
more impressed by the defensive stop

Huge sequence there
Dodged the three, then Hummel a basket
A futile crusade to prevent mass ignorance
Damn
Big missed opportunity. Hopefully they can keep up the D pressure that just showed up.
Harris 3
You have to be kidding me. That shot was ridiculous.
Second one he's hit tonight
There’s not much we can do about those
by septimusharding on Feb 26, 2009 10:40 PM EST up reply actions
We can
do something about those lazy passes though, Mr. Moore.
by septimusharding on Feb 26, 2009 10:41 PM EST up reply actions
I'd say that,

by BoilerTMill on Feb 26, 2009 10:44 PM EST up reply actions
but he would
get called for his fifth foul when he touched the scorer’s table to check in

JJ might be coming in after the TO
by septimusharding on Feb 26, 2009 10:44 PM EST reply actions
Great ball movement
out of the timeout.
by septimusharding on Feb 26, 2009 10:47 PM EST reply actions
Don't you have to actually touch the ball
to get called for a goal tend?
A futile crusade to prevent mass ignorance
We need stops
When they go to zone after a make, it takes us too long to find a shot.
big ten title?
if we beat MSU wouldnt illinois have the edge since they beat us?
This might be different
If the officials had not decided to remove JJ from the game

Yeah it's rough
We’re just too thin in the post.

had to make it right
that they kicked harris out in WL
80% Shooting?
That is disgusting.
How are we even remotely close right now?

At Mackey
With a full squad. I like our chances.
Unfortunately
I’ll be in California. Actually, its kinda fortunate because I live there, but I think you get the point.
Of course JaJuan missed
He’s not used to being on the floor tonight

Painter very alert
The clock should have stopped as it was under a minute.
Strangely
they didn’t add any time, though.

Well
At least we got to see that Hightower hug. It was pretty cute
by septimusharding on Feb 26, 2009 11:09 PM EST up reply actions
UM wanted it
Purdue didnt… at least there will be more teams in the tourney
That's insane....
Purdue didn’t want it? Gimme a break. Jujuan in foul trouble w/o a back up and Michigan shooting the lights out had nothing to do with it, it was all about Purdue “not wanting it”.

Lets make these last 27 seconds interesting.
Anyone see
That kid from IN score 11 unanswered points in just about 1 minute? The video was on the GBI board

Saw it on Deadspin
Many levels of awesome.
Not our night
63% from the field for the night for Michigan. Just shows how tough this conference is
A futile crusade to prevent mass ignorance
Agreed
This was not the OSU game, with umpteen uncontested layups. I think UM shot a higher percentage when we had a hand in their face than when they were open.
