St Joe's Preview from a Hawk perspecitve
This game is extremely tough for me. I was raised to cheer for the Boilermakers but I attend St Joe's.
We are lead by Seniors Garret Williamson and Darren Govens. This year is a transition year for us as we no longer have A-10 POY in Ahmad Nivins and his side kick in Tashad Carr. Garret is no expected to take a bigger role in scoring as he moves back to his more natural position of wing after playing the point.
We go about 9 deep. So far the most consistent player this year has been Freshman guard Carl 'Tay' Jones (2nd team All State in Ohio and his counties POY). Carl is a quick guard that likes to use his quickness to get to the whole. Unlike LewJack last year he is able to finish on his drives to the basket but he loves to pull up in the lane and hit a little floater.
We hit about 75% of our free throws. We have been dominated on the glass. We have no interior presence a strong Center/Power Forward will push us down low. Although Tod O'Brien is 6'11 he has been decent on the boards.
In the first two games the team really seemed to feed off of the crowd in the new arena. The Drexel game most likely should have been a lost but after a block shot that went right to Govens who hit a wide open three to tie the game and send it to overtime.
