Come get a taste! Bucket Game Open Thread

Purdue Boilermakers at Indiana Hoosiers, Nov 21, 2009 3:30 PM EST

No preamble today. We're live in Bloomington for the Bucket game. H&R is undercover for the second roadie of the year as we try to keep the Bucket. Let's teach IU what it means to actually show up and defend the thing. (I know it is the same clip from yesterday, but it is still funny.)

I hate my cable provider

I’m in West Lafayette and getting UW-NU

Ditto

Up in Minneapolis, it’s UW-NU. Looks like we’re off to a helluva start, though! 14-0 with 5:00 left in the first. Elliott and Taylor are looking to go out in style!

Strong first quarter.

Hope it’s not followed by the 2nd quarter shutdown.

Awesome!

Good stop, I thought for sure they were going to score, guess I should have more faith in our D. I will now.

Defense

Nice job by the defense to rebound after giving up the big play. That was definitely something that plagued us during the MSU game!

Summers

Did gametracker really just say that Summers punted 60 yards with no return??

It's a weird game

Our d and special teams are playing well so far. If only our offense could get it going.

Marve

I know this is a game thread, but I’ve heard different remarks from different people on Marve’s talent/commitment level. Can anyone shed some light on him?

by ElijahJones22 on Nov 21, 2009 4:31 PM EST reply actions

Not sure I can offer much on Marve

He wasn’t setting the world on fire at Miami, but I’m sure TMill would be able to tell you more.

On a 2009 note, sure is nice watching Taylor get some good carries. Not sure if Bolden is totally healthy or it’s just Hope rewarding a senior in his last game, but he’s making the most of it.

On Marve

I don’t enough about it, but I think Marve has the talent and it was more commitment problems in Miami. I hope he’s learned from it.

Return Game

This nonsense on the kick returns has to change for next year. We cannot let average field position be between the 40’s.

by ElijahJones22 on Nov 21, 2009 4:44 PM EST reply actions

Yup

I actually thought our special teams were going well, but right when we had them on the ropes, they returned to their old selves to give IU life.

35 seconds and (i think) all 3 timeouts

We just need our own good return. Let Wiggs do his thing.

Room for Improvement

Strong first half out of Purdue on both sides of the ball. Few of the recurring problems crept back up. Special teams on coverage is still a very obvious concern. Also, I think we can be better as a team on offense without much time. Very promising though. Just need to finish out the season strong now.

by ElijahJones22 on Nov 21, 2009 4:55 PM EST reply actions

Nice win and relatively strong finish to the season. 4 of the losses were by a combined 12 points. With a little luck here and there, Purdue might have become bowl eligible. As a Duck fan on the West coast, I started liking Purdue a little back when Brees was there, but the past 2 years with our teams facing each other I’ve become even more of a fan. Purdue is for sure my favorite Big Ten team. I will be rooting for you guys for years to come!

He can run, he can pass, he is sicker than e-coli. Jeremiah always keeps things rolling.
