Welcome to the Fold: Tracking Edition week 10
The season is now over for a couple of our recruits. Since Indiana started its state tournament this week, all of our in-state recruits are now in do or die positions. Two of them didn't have a lot of luck in the first round of sectional play, so this will be the final update on them.
Sean Robinson - QB - Rochester, IL (Rochester) - Sean finished the regular season with a spotless 9-0 record by beating Olympia 48-20. Robinson ran five times for 65 yards and two touchdowns. He also was 5 of 10 passing for 78 yards and a score. The Rockets, who are ranked #1 in the state in Illinois' class 4A, are the #1 overall seed in class 4A and will open tournament play against Mascoutah.
Joe Gilliam - LB - Southport, IN (Southport) - Indiana is different than most states. Every team, regardless of record, makes the state tournament. Sectionals are paired in groups of eight and a blind draw determines the games. As a result, there are no seedings. Sometimes you have games like I covered Friday night where Class A #1 Lafayette Central Catholic played Class A #2 Pioneer in the pening game. Other time times you have a situation like a class 2A sectional, where 2-7 Taylor played 0-9 Alexandria. Southport appeared to have an easy opening game against 2-7 North Central, but the Panthers had beaten defending state champ Center Grove as one of its two wins. North Central kept it going to with a 37-22 victory to eliminate Southport, who finished 5-5.
Charles Torwudzo - WR - Brownsburg, IN (Brownsburg) - Torwudzo will be moving on as Brownsburg had a very easy 65-0 over Indianapolis Tech. Chuck T had four catches for 87 yards in the rout. Brownsburg now gets a rematch with Zionsville, who defeated the Bulldogs 7-0 in a muddy week 8 contest.
Jeremy Cornelius - WR - Harrisburg, PA (Bishop McDevitt) - Bishop McDevitt stayed undefeated with a 43-6 win over Carlisle. Cornelius had two catches for 28 yards in the win.
De'Ron Flood - TE - O'Fallon, IL (O'Fallon) - O'Fallon finished its regular season with a 6-3 record as the Panthers defeated Alton 28-6. Flood had two catches for 40 yards while notching a sack on the defensive side of the ball. O'Fallon qualified for the Illinois Class 7A state playoffs, seeded 5th in their region against New Lenox.
Josh Davis - DT - Plain City, OH (Jonathan Alder) - Alder has now won five in a row as they defeated McClain 43-0 this week. Davis was hurt and did not play last week, so I don't know if he played this week.
Mike Lee - LB - Pittsburgh, PA (Woodland Hills) - Woodland Hills moved to 7-1 with a thorough 52-14 victory over Plum. Lee helped the Wolverines allow just two third down conversions on 12 attempts.
Ryan Isaac - DE - Michigan City, IN (Michigan City) - Isaac's season came to a sudden end as the Wolves dropped their sectional opener 23-0 to Elkhart Memorial. Michigan City's best season in school history was derailed by injuries and an illness in the final game to one of its best players.
E.J. Johnson - DB - Cocoa, FL (Cocoa) - Few things are slowing Cocoa down, but this week the Tigers only posted 28 points in a 28-3 win over Astronaut High. In the accompanying video you can see that Johnson had a key blocked punt in the game. The Cocoa defense has given up only 34 points on the year so far.
Will Lucas - LB - Lakeland, FL (Lakeland) - Lakeland continues to roll as the Dreadnaughts had a close 26-7 victory over Kissimmee Osceola Friday night. Lucas continues to lead the team in tackles and sacks as Lakeland remains one of the top ranked teams in the nation.
Jesse Schmitt - LS - Louisville, KY (Trinity) - Trinity evened its record at 4-4 with a 21-14 victory over Louisville Ballard.
Jhony Faustin - DB - Naples, FL (Lely) - I continue to think that Faustin is going to be one of the best pickups of this recruiting cycle. Lely moved to 5-3 with a 20-10 win over Cypress Lake Friday night.
Isaiah Williams - WR - Miami, FL (Monsignor Pace) - pace grabbed another shutout win with a 46-0 victory over Pembroke Pines Somerset Academy this week. Quarterback Stephen Morris had six TD passes to five receivers, but Williams was not listed as having any stats.
Cody Webster - P - Harrisburg, PA (Central Dauphin East) - Webster's Cerntral Dauphin East fell to 0-8 on the season with a 29-10 loss to Lower Dauphin. There were no stats available.
Reggie Pegram - RB - Dallas, TX (James Madison) - Madison moved to 6-2 with a 39-13 win over Castleberry this past week. Purdue's newest commitment had a big game with 180 yards rushing on 14 carries. Half of his yardage came on a game closing 94 yard touchdown run.

Jhony Faustin
He’d better be a good pickup. There’s a lot riding on him I think. The Boilers haven’t had a top recruit at CB other than Kevin Green for a long time. With Pender and King both done after this year (not to mention both starting safeties being done as well) there is a big need for some guys to step into that role next year. Maybe Faustin will be an impact freshmen that the Boilers have been missing the last number of years?
