#16 Oregon at Purdue Open Thread

I'm doing the open thread again this week. I'll be back at Ross-Ade in the Shively Stadium Club for a second straight week, and I am getting used to it. it will be weird when I return to my normal seats next week. For those wtaching at home, feel free to stop by and comment as the game goes on. I'll have the game wrap posted later tonight.

And now, something to get us pumped up...

Wow. What a great game, guys. Your defense played great. I definitely underestimated your team, a lot of heart.

Even though you didn't win, I think you can still look forward to making noise in the Big Ten. You're a darn good football team.

It's nice to win a game that we had no business winning. Only our defense kept us in it. What a wild one!

This is killing me. Our D played their hearts out and Kory played like a true champion.

Sickening. I haven't felt this bad since The Fumble.

The Ducks were very fortunate to somehow win that game. Frankly, both teams did pretty much everything they could do to give the game away. Hopefully both teams play better in the future. I will be rooting for Purdue the rest of the season and look forward to a better played game from both teams next time our teams face each other at Autzen Stadium.

I'm surprised that no one (not even Bob Griese, at the time it was happening) was freaking out about how leisurely the offense treated the final five minutes of regulation. Obviously, they need to get down close to the 20-yd line to give Summers a reasonably comfortable shot at winning the game. But the offense putzed and putzed their way down to the 37 (I saw no semblance of hurry-up), then ran the ball on their last play before the field-goal attempt. Sure, chew up the clock so Oregon has nothing left to work with; but get down the field into good field-goal range with some sense of urgency. THEN, burn whatever clock remains and kick the field-goal. I was going crazy watching that exceedingly poor time management during that final, fruitless drive.
